There will soon be one less Elder Scrolls game in the world because the Legends trading card game is no longer available for purchase on Steam.
I won’t blame you if you completely forget about The Elder Scrolls: Legends. I’m not even entirely sure I even knew it existed, but it did; or I should say yes, because as of yesterday you can no longer buy the game on Steam. I’m heading to the game Steam page you’ll be greeted with a message saying it’s no longer available in the store, but when you launch the game, you’ll see a message confirming the game’s imminent closure. “On January 30, 2025, The Elder Scrolls: Legends servers will be permanently disabled,” the message reads (via Stone paper shotgun).

“From now until January 30, 2025, all store items and entries to in-game events will be available for 1 gold, so you can enjoy all the content Legends has to offer. On this day, the servers will be turned off and the game will be unavailable. Thank you for playing and we hope you enjoyed your time in Legends.” Considering that the game had just shy of 9,000 players when it launched about seven years ago, according to SteamDBit probably won’t affect that many people, but it’s always a shame when a game gets removed from the list for any reason.
Active work on the title ended in 2019, so this is by no means a huge surprise. Legends was clearly a response to the growing trend of digital trading card games at the time – it was back when Hearthstone was doing quite well, but you don’t hear much about MIG CCGs these days, do you? Still, it’s kind of damn frustrating to see another game go offline just because it wasn’t a huge success, but I’m sure the next one will stick around. Normal?
