Flight Simulator 2024 Players Stuck in Hours of Loading Screens – Xbox Says It’s Working to Fix the Issue

Published:

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is officially available today, and fans are eager to jump into their virtual cockpits to take to the skies again. Or at least they try.

Players are taking to social media to report initial loading screens that last at least two hours. Its tendency to crash at around 97 percent has led to memes about “Microsoft Flight Simulator 97” and other jokes. Some fans aren’t even that lucky and are stuck at around six percent.

In post on X/TwitterMicrosoft said it is aware of the issues and is working to resolve them. “We are aware of user reports of long initial load times for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. With so many users initializing the SIM at the same time, we experience a high volume of server requests. We are working to resolve these issues as quickly as possible. For users whose initial load has exceeded 90% and is no longer progressing, we recommend restarting your computer. Otherwise, we recommend waiting until charging continues normally.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is the continuation of Microsoft Flight Simulator from 2020. The additions include an all-new career mode and new aircraft types such as gliders and hot air balloons. In our preview we wrote: “I was very impressed with what I saw, and I didn’t think they would be able to improve MSFS 2020 much more than through an iterative update, but this is a re-imagining of the entire series. Everything is good… it is better now and everything new looks amazing and fun.”

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is now available on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
