Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be released on PC in January, one year after the console’s launch

Published:

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth was released on consoles in February, and if I had to guess, I’d say it’ll come to PC about a year later. Hey – guess what! Square Enix has just announced the release date for Rebirth on PC: January 23, 2025.

The PC version will have improved lighting, improved textures and models, and support for DLSS and other graphics features. You can see it in action in the brief trailer below:

Rebirth continues where Remake left off, rendering the areas of Final Fantasy VII to Midgar in all the high-resolution glory that current machines are capable of. Of course, we didn’t do a proper review of it since it wasn’t released on PC, but Katharine had fun playing it on console (for supporters only), even though she had some issues with the open world design:

That’s not to say that Rebirth isn’t as spectacular, stunningly attractive and awe-inspiring as other open worlds. However, the way he sticks to Chadley’s tick-box regime robs him of some of the potential miracle, in my opinion. Once you’ve completed all these tasks, there’s not much more to discover, leaving you feeling a bit empty and mysteryless. For all Final Fantasy 15’s faults, and there are many of them, I always felt a strange sense of excitement whenever I turned another corner on one of its many wonderful highways, and the idle chatter of my boys in the back of the car gave me a little more flavor and a little more personality as a result. . Your Rebirth crew may be better chocobo riders than Noctis and his boy band, but they’re certainly an oddly tranquil bunch as you bounce between mission objectives.

We’ll have a full review in the up-to-date year, around launch on January 23.
