We hope to see Clive Rosfield in his Cloud suit Final Fantasy VII series in a future update. Fingers crossed. We’ll probably see more mods Final Fantasy VII Rebirth if and when the game will be launched on PC. It is currently only available on PS5 and has underperformed its publisher Square Enix.
According to Square Enix president Takashi Kiryu (via Bloomberg), Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Final Fantasy XVI, AND Foam Stars all “failed to meet the Japanese game publisher’s expectations, both in terms of revenues and profits.” As a result, Square Enix shares fell 16% in May.
Despite reportedly needy sales, there is robust fan support Final Fantasy VII Rebirth AND Final Fantasy XVI. In fact, it was nominated for Console Game of the Year at the Golden Joystick Awards. Given the critical acclaim this game has received, it wouldn’t be surprising if it was nominated for The Game Awards this year as well.
