Final Fantasy 16 Hidden Profile in Latest Nvidia Driver Leaves Fans Waiting for Surprise PC Game Release at Gamescom

We’ve been hearing about a Final Fantasy 16 PC port for months now — Square Enix confirmed the game would be coming, but the massive question was “when.” Fans on It will reset and Reddit now thinks the answer might be Soonas the latest Nvidia driver update, released today, introduced a GameReady profile for Final Fantasy 16.

Although you won’t find any mention of Final Fantasy in Release Information for driver 560.81, Reddit user tracking changes in Nvidia driver updates indicated that the latest version includes profiles for Final Fantasy 16, Final Fantasy 16 demo and Once upon a time a manthe newest survival game on Steam.

I updated the driver to the latest one and confirmed that all three were present when using the Custom 3D Settings feature in the Nvidia Control Panel. Nvidia works closely with major game developers to integrate features into their drivers and make sure games run well on Nvidia graphics cards, and for major releases like Final Fantasy 16, it often pushes a driver update to users close to the release date. The leading game in this driver release is Hunt: Showdown 1896, a major Hunt update due out on August 15th.

That’s definitely not it guarantee Final Fantasy 16 is coming to PC soon, but fans have noticed that the main producer is Yoshi-P will be present at Gamescomand the Opening Night Live ceremony is just two weeks away on August 20th. There were quite a few announcements made at last year’s ceremony, so it doesn’t seem all that unlikely that Square Enix will drop by and aid ONL host Geoff Keighley surprise release the PC version during the event.

The presence of the FF16 demo in the driver profile list also raises the possibility that Square Enix plans to release a snippet of the game first, with the full release coming a bit later. It’s likely that Square Enix isn’t making any significant changes to either PC version, but we’ll find out in a few weeks. Hopefully, it’s not as disappointing as the Final Fantasy 7 Remake port turned out to be.
