Bethesda has unveiled plans for a Fallout Day broadcast this week.
In post on social mediaBethesda said the stream, which will take place tomorrow, October 23, at 10am PT/1pm ET/6pm UK, will feature more information on Fallout 76, Fallout Shelter, Fallout 4, and more.
In Fallout 76 in particular, Bethesda will show more updates to Burning Springs. Set to debut in December, Walton Goggins will reprise his fan-favorite role as Ghoul from the Fallout TV series in this major expansion, scheduled for release in December.
Fallout Shelter was also mentioned, as were Fallout 4 and Creations, which suggests that the decade-old RPG will be getting fresh content soon. Creations are community-created mods officially released for Bethesda video games.
Elsewhere, there are fresh merchandise promotions, live community events and a post-show performance celebrating the community. There is also no specific mention of the Fallout TV show. Season 2 will be released in December.
There is also no mention of any Fallout remaster. Following the release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, there are a lot of rumors circulating about potential Fallout remakes (Fallout 3 Remastered leaked in 2023(but these plans may have changed). And we know Bethesda plans to get there eventually Fallout 5although after Elder Scrolls 6.
October 23, 2077 is, of course, the day in the Fallout timeline when the bombs fell, sparking the Great War that has kept fans of the series of irradiated wastelands entertained for the past few decades.
By the way, the last time we heard about Fallout 5 was in June 2024, when Bethesda Softworks CEO Todd Howard has said he’s not interested in throwing it out the door. Howard talked about the future of the popular post-apocalyptic RPG series interview with YouTube content creator MrMattyPlays.
“You know, obviously I can’t talk about it right now with the other Fallout games, but I would say that we have to rush them, otherwise we’re going to have to bring out things that are different from the work we did in 76… we don’t feel like we have to rush it,” he said. “The Fallout TV show fills a certain niche in terms of franchise and storytelling.”
The last mainline Fallout game was Fallout 4, which was released in 2015. DLC content for the title was steadily released on PC and consoles over the next year, and in 2018, Bethesda released its multiplayer-focused derivative, Fallout 76. While fans slowly flocked to the West Virginia open-world RPG, it was the release of Prime Video’s Fallout TV show that leveled the Bethesda series in top in terms of attention.
Still, Howard remained steadfast when it came to his desires to release a significant video game. For him, it comes down to wanting to treat Bethesda’s franchises with caution.
“I’ve completely gained the desire for a new type of main single-player game,” he said. “And look, these things take time. I don’t think it’s a bad thing that people miss something. We just want to do it right and make sure that everything we do in the franchise, whether it’s Elder Scrolls, Fallout, or now Starfield, becomes important moments for everyone who loves these franchises as much as we do.”
