Digital Extremes Yearbook Warframe fan convention, TennoCon, is something developer Digital Extremes uses to showcase the game to the community and give back to fans with fascinating developer talks, as well as a slew of announcements and reveals that will blow us away. TennoCon 2024 was absolutely no exception.
Before TennoCon 2024, everyone knew that there would be a large focus on Warframe: 1999. This is the next large expansion for the game, but the event has brought many more surprises, some of which will be coming soon. Warframe much faster than you might think. As the game continues to grow, Digital Extremes showed through the event that it’s putting in more and more work to not only keep up with player demand for novel content, but exceed it.
Everything Announced at TennoCon 2024
Below, I’ve highlighted everything that was shown off at TennoCon 2024. Even if you watched the event live, you may have missed a few of them, as there were a lot of smaller announcements in addition to the two large gameplay reveals that were the absolute highlight of the show.
Warframe: 1999 demo and release window
The main focus of TennoCon 2024, as we all knew, was the gameplay demo Warframe: 1999The demo follows the story of Arthur, who is in a diminutive base where he hides out with five other Protoframes, following the trail of a renowned figure who took refuge in that time period.
I think the demo is awesome because it shows a unique part Warframe universe that is heavily inspired by the 90s. The retro aesthetic works well with the game’s story, creating a world that feels grounded, and the best part is that we’ll be able to explore it later this year. The expansion’s release window is winter 2024. The story revolves around the countdown to New Year’s Eve 1999, so it seems fitting that we can play it as we count down to 2025.
Infected boy band
By Warframe: 1999 demo, an original 90s inspired boy band song voiced by Nick Apostolides, the voice actor for Leon S. Kennedy in Resident Evil 4 RemakeThe Party of Your Life. The boyband consists of Infested characters who occupy a stadium in the solar system, and while we don’t know much about how you’ll interact with them, I can tell you that the song is already available on YouTube and should be coming to Spotify in the near future.
The song did great press during the expansion’s announcement event, so I expect fans will feel the same way. The idea of a sci-fi zombie band sounds completely crazy, but it fits incredibly well Warframe.
WarframeFirst romance system
Warframe: 1999 features a total of six Protoframes, and players control one of them, Arthur. Throughout the expansion’s story, you can send messages as Arthur to all the other Protoframes and develop his relationships with them to secure a kiss on New Year’s Eve.
Note that this was only teased during the gameplay demo, and the most action I saw was the writing. However, I think it’s brilliant how Digital Extremes brought back the senior MSN Messenger days in a way that feels physical and significant to the story.
Cyte-09, the novel Warframe
We only see him for a brief moment in Warframe: 1999 demo, but Cyte-09 is a novel Warframe that will be added to the game with this expansion. With the novel Gemini skin system, players will be able to take him into battle in the current day, using this sharpshooter’s skills to hunt down fortunes from Void Relics just as he once did for treasures in another life.
Gemini Skin System and New Mounts and Weapons
One of the most surprising discoveries Warframe: 1999 demo was Gemini Skin System. This expansion has some of the most extensive voice acting of any Warframehistory, especially because of this system. When the expansion launches this winter, you’ll be able to seamlessly switch between your current Warframe and the Protoframe skin.
Each Protoframe will have a say when you switch to it, when you’re in combat, and even when you’re not using it. The system is brilliant, adding another layer of customization to the game as it saves your custom setup for both your Warframe and Protoframe.
In addition to this system, the expansion adds the Atomicycle mount, which you can unlock and summon at any time in the game world. This futuristic bike is capable of making 90-degree turns and dodging bullets. Finally, there are more weapons, such as the AX-52 rifle, which are grounded weapons based on ones you might see in real life.
Make a wish in Warframe: 1999
One of Warframevoice actors discovered that the Make a Wish Foundation received a request from one of the many children it supports to become a voice actor and have fans. The developer worked with the foundation during TennoCon 2024 to record the child’s voice and add it to Warframe: 1999where they will become a lasting addition to the universe that fans can hear about forever.
The first part of that wish was fulfilled by the developer, who recorded and added the voice to the game, but the second part, to have fans, was fulfilled by the community at the event and at home, who cheered them on. The voice can be heard at the beginning of the expansion demo, when Arthur walks up to an arcade machine that starts up and plays what sounds like a tempting audio ad for passersby.
Lotus Eaters search
In August 2024, long before Warframe: 1999 will be released, we will get a completely novel prologue quest called Lotus Eaters for those who have already completed everything and want to learn more to prepare for the upcoming expansion.
I don’t have many details about what this quest will entail, other than the fact that Digital Extremes has confirmed that we’ll be meeting up with a familiar face again. I’ll leave you to ponder the key art above and speculate on who she might be.
Sevagoth Prime
It’s finally time for Sevagoth Prime to step into action Warframe. This stunning novel version of what I can only describe as Warframe equivalent of death itself looks awesome. As with all Prime Warframes, you’ll be able to get this one by breaking Void Relics or purchasing Prime Access when it releases in August alongside Lotus Eaters search.
Permanent commemorative skins for Ember and Rhino
High-quality Heirloom skins for Ember and Rhino are back Warframe and will no longer be time-limited. They are permanently available for those who wish to claim them. Ember’s is returning to the game now, while Rhino’s is returning to the game in 2025.
Unannounced Warframe 2024 Update
Digital Extremes has confirmed that in addition to Lotus Eaters task and Warframe: 1999players can expect another update for the game at some point in 2024. In addition to the catchy name Unannounced Warframe 2024 UpdateI don’t know about that. This update should come before the large expansion, but we’ll have to wait and see where it lands, because anything can change.
Warframe: 1999 Short anime
Digital Extremes has finally announced a partnership with an animation studio Line on Warframe: 1999 anime low. I don’t know what kind of story the anime will show us, but it aims to explore more of the expansion’s world and introduce Waframe into a novel medium that everyone can enjoy.
Soul Frame demo and novel content of Preludes
Soul Frame is another game that Digital Extremes is working on, a game that has been in Early Access for a while now. This Early Access program, Soulframe Preludeswill receive novel content that participants will be able to play and share their feedback.
This Soul Frame The TennoCon 2024 devstream showed off this content, including a novel ancestor to save, a brand novel world boss to defeat, and another major boss trailer. The novel boss is a grotesque combination of a bear body and skull with moose heads for antlers, and looks absolutely terrifying.
Given the early access nature of Soul FrameThe developer didn’t provide a timeline for when this novel content will be added. But the teaser gave us another fascinating glimpse into the game’s world, one I’m incredibly excited to explore.
TennoCon 2025 dates announced
Now that TennoCon 2024 has come to a close, it’s time to look to the future. Digital Extremes has announced that TennoCon 2025 will return to London, Ontario, Canada, with July 18-19, 2024.
