There is nothing better than a faithful steed. Every adventurer needs a creature that can ride to hell and back and serve as a constant source of support during the trials and tribulations of being a hero. But as modern Elden Ring: Shadow of Erdtree The DLC reminds us that every creature has its limits. And now even Torrent – the ride or die Tarnished horse – can’t take it anymore and won’t be summoned in any specific region of the game.
From Software released Elden Ring: Shadow of Erdtree 21st June. The comprehensive expansion adds tons of modern, ultra-challenging boss fights, enemies, and modern regions to explore. One such place is the Forest of the Abyss, a misty forest filled with darkness at every turn. He turns up the scary dial and apparently it’s too much for destitute ancient Torrent. If you enter the forest while riding your mount, your ghost horse will disappear and the game will display the following text: “The ghost horse is frightened and cannot be summoned.” In other words, Torrent won’t let you ride it around the ominous forest.
This moment surprised many players. Just one clip of Torrent disappearing had over 211,000 views on TikTok. This is the same summon that was ready to face all the evil of the base game alongside you – it’s a literal bloodlord that looks like a beast from hell. The most liked response from the above viral video was: “Like a horse is afraid of this, but bro he looks at the older beast without any fear.”
Look, I don’t understand it, but I won’t judge. Maybe Torrent wanted to leave earlier but just couldn’t muster the courage. The whole forest basically looks like part of a horror movie Erdtree, and it would be a lot easier if Torrent existed and raced players alongside the terrifying, lurking Elders. Either way, it looks like Tarnished will have to face this challenge on their own.
