Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree: How to get the Dragon Hunter Katana

The Dragon Hunter’s Great Katana comes from the Ancient Dragonman, a humanoid boss in the Dragonpit mini-dungeon. The Dragon Pit is located in the eastern part of the Gravesite Plain and to get there you must cross the Ellac Bridge.

Complete the dungeon, defeat the dragon man and you will get his sword. Oddly enough, he doesn’t employ this ability very often in battle and instead relies on dragon incantations and regular sword fighting. Well, it makes your life easier.

Either way, completing this battle is technically optional, but you must do so to complete the Igon Shadow of Erdtree quest and reach Jagged Peak.

Dragon Hunter Great Katana stats and scaling

The Dragon Hunter’s Great Katana requires:

And the scaling looks like this:

As with most katanas, this katana’s dexterity scaling increases as you upgrade your weapon, so make sure you focus on dexterity as your main stat while putting a little bit aside for strength as well. Since it is a special weapon, you need Dark Smithing Stones to upgrade the Dragon Hunter’s Great Katana.

In return you get:

  • Physical: 125
  • Magic: 0
  • Fire: 0
  • Lightning: 0
  • Saint: 0

Dragon Hunter Great Katana Ability: Dragon Wound Slash

He also has the built-in Dragon Wound Slash ability.

Pressing the skill button covers the katana in a magical aura of jagged gravel stones and makes a tiny slash right in front of you. If you hold down the skill button, it will release a magical aura in a huge arc in front of you and deal quite a lot of damage.

The natural employ for this skill is against dragons, but you can employ it against anything if you want.
