Trying to complete the Scholar’s Remembrance quests in the Elden Ring Nightreign DLC? In addition to the Undertaker, a novel character in The Forsaken Hollows is the Scholar, and this learned Nightwalker is a true naturalist at heart, with an uncanny ability to analyze the delicate points of all threats in his path. Of course, he’s also perfectly capable of stabbing a Night Lord or two along the way.
To maximize the Scholar’s unique combo of “studying enemies before they stab them,” it’s best to start his personal missions and acquire Relics appropriate to this unique character. In this guide we will explain How to complete the three Scholar’s Memorial Quests in The Forsaken Hollows DLCensuring that you will be able to get the most out of this gentleman warrior.
In this guide:
How to complete the Undertaker’s Memory #1 quest
First, of course, you need to unlock the Scholar. Then complete at least one Expedition with him against any Night Lord, which will earn you your first three Memory Fragments. Read the journal entry for the third Memory Fragment, then trigger Memory to enter the instanced version of the Round Table Keep.
Go to the Chapel and interact with the note on the Scholar’s desk. This will give you a novel Expedition Objective: “Explore the underground chamber beneath the swamps.” To initiate this goal, start your quest in the Great Basin, the novel Moving Earth event in the DLC.
Once you start your Expedition, head towards the red objective marker on the map that leads to the swamp. There is a ruined building here; go down two levels and turn right to find a hole in the ground you can jump into. Examine the desk underneath to receive Vassal’s Journal.
With the journal in hand, complete the Expedition by defeating the Night Lord or dying; it doesn’t matter which. When you return to the Round Table Fortress, talk to both the Undertaker and the Iron Menial in the Shrine until you finish their dialogue. Then approach the Scholar’s desk in the Chapel, interact with him and read the Vassal’s Journal.
Finally, talk to Undertaker and tell her, “I want to ask you something.” This allows you to leave Memories. You will receive The scholar’s cup for your efforts.
How to complete the Undertaker’s Memory #2 quest
Continue playing as the Scholar until you unlock the fifth Memory Fragment. Once you have the fifth Memory Fragment journal entry, start Memory and talk to the Small Jar Seller. Select “Ask to be taken to the Great Hollow” and make sure you have decent Relics first, because you’re in for a fight.
You will be teleported to the northern stronghold instance of The Great Hollows Castle. Climb the stairs and reach the top floor, fighting the enemies that get in your way. Any weapon that causes bleeding works wonders against these guys and should allow you to kill them in one or two hits.
Once you reach the top, you’ll notice a immense, crystal-encrusted rock platform chained to the ceiling; climb onto it, then jump to the rafters above. There’s a hole in the wall in front of you. Enter and you will reach a closed door. When you interact with the door, you will receive a message asking you to investigate the noise.
Return to the main room with the rocky platform and look down to see two knight enemies and a Divine Skin Apostle. You should have a good view from above, so go ahead and utilize your Scholar’s Analysis ability to weaken them in relative safety. Then jump down and prepare to fight.
Incidentally, this is the perfect opportunity to utilize Scholar’s Ultimate Art, Communion, which will tether all three enemies together, causing them to share damage. We recommend that you defeat the knights first and then face the Divine Skin.
After winning the fight, you can return to the upper area and examine the previously closed door. Inside you will find a note on the desk that you should read and then a crystal that you should examine. This completes the Memory quest and rewards you A cleansing tear Relic. Correspondingly, Cleansing Tear helps every time you utilize Communion, dealing continuous damage to all connected targets.
How to complete the Undertaker’s Memory #3 quest
To complete the third and final Scholar’s Memorial quest, you must utilize it to defeat the Balancers, one of the two novel Night Lords in Forsaken Hollows. By doing this you will have eight memory fragments, you will be able to read the journal and enter the Memory one last time.
Go to the Chapel and interact with the piece of paper on the Scholar’s desk to learn about the Cleansing Tear. Then talk to Undertaker to get it Returned leather case. You must now go to the outfit change area in the cargo bay and look at yourself in the mirror (instead of selecting “Change Outfit”). Finally, return to the Chapel one last time and interact with the desk by selecting the “Alone” option.
This finally opens a novel Expedition, the goal of which is “Defeat Dreglord in the Limveld”. For tips on beating this challenging DLC final boss, check out our tips for fighting Traitorous Straghess/Pure Impulse Straghess.
When you emerge victorious, you will receive The Golden Armband. Now go back to the Shrine, talk to Undertaker, interact with Scholar’s desk, and then talk to Undertaker one last time. The memory will end and you will be gifted Scholar’s Memorial Outfit and Note: My dear successor Relic. Well done!
