With the fresh PlayStyles Goalkeepers and now the all-important PlayStyles+ mode, the best goalkeepers in EA Sports FC 25 are better than ever.
The online version has seen the heavily-developed goalkeeper movement mechanics toned down, meaning players must rely more on the AI goalkeeper than in previous editions.
These changes also have a huge impact on Career Mode, offering managers not only fresh ways to identify potential signings, but also incredibly effective tools to hone their skills once they’ve been added to the squad.
We’ve scoured the transfer market to bring you some engaging options for goalkeepers to add to your squad – whether it’s a solid keeper who still has time to improve, a reliable backup or a teenage star with a decade or more of potential to develop.
First up, we’ll go over some of our top picks for the best goalkeepers to sign in Career Mode. These players are suitable for a wide range of budgets, including if you’re already at the top, trying to push the Premier League or starting your ‘Road to Glory’ from the lower leagues!
But then we’ll go over the top-rated goalkeepers in EA Sports FC 25 so you know who’s available if you’re playing with one of the biggest budgets in the game. It also gives us a chance to show you who’s packing the all-new PlayStyle+ goalkeeping skills.

Top Goalkeepers to Sign in EA Sports FC 25 Career Mode
- Giorgi Mamardashvili – Valencia – 85 OVR
- Diogo Costa – Porto – 84 OGL
- Lucas Chevallier – Lille – 80 OVR
- Guilleme remains – Toulouse – 78 OVR
- James Trafford – Burnley – 73 OVR
- Rome – Jayden Owusu-Oduro – AZ – 69 OVR – £2.5m
- Mike Penders – Genk – 65 OVR – £1.4m
- Dennis Seimen – Stuttgart – 63 OGL
In Career Mode, Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is the highest rated goalkeeper not currently playing for a top club and, given the current massive dysfunction at Valencia, is a very realistic transfer for many wealthy clubs. However, another high-priced option is Diogo Costa, who has a long ball pass play style to build attacks from the back.
When it comes to clubs in the lower tier of Europe’s top leagues, France is the place to shop. Both Lucas Chevallier, who is 21, and Guilleme Restes, who is just 19, have incredible overall ratings for their age and could develop very well with the team. Throw them into the starting XI – as their real clubs did – and then forget about your goalkeeper for the next 15 years.
Finally, if you’re playing Road to Glory career mode with a lower-rated team, there are plenty of solid options. After Burnley’s relegation, England Under-21 hero James Trafford is now a much more realistic signing, but if you’re really only working with a very miniature budget, 6ft 7” Mike Penders is a brilliant option, as is Dennis Seimen, who is definitely not David Seaman’s German cousin.
