The Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D remake was one of my favorite games last year. AND I won it 9 in my reviewHe believes that this is a shiny example of a classic RPG processing. Square Enix took everything that made Dragon Quest 3 a favorite of all time and leaned in it with a newfangled replay that retained his classic sensitivity: a satisfying fight against the turn, a classic history full of heart and wonderful cities and sows to visit. Now the HD-2D Dragon Quest 1 and 2 remake is trying to follow the brilliantly made traces of 3, and if the hour I spent with the upcoming pair of modifications is any clue, they seem to be recreated with the same level of love and quality as a hit last year.
To get any initial confusion, the original Dragon Quest 3 was a prequet Dragon Quest 1 and 2. When Square Enix tried to convert the original NES trilogy, he decided to do it in chronological order, starting from Dragon Quest 3, leading to 1 and 2. My hour of practical time has been evenly divided between 1 and 2, which are sold as one connected package in which you choose the game that play from the introductory menu. But apart from his graphic improvements, Dragon Quest 1 is clearly older than 3, even in its converted form. Dragon Quest 3 is considered one of the godparents of the RPG species, establishing frames on which the RPGs based on party have built over the last 35 years. 1 and 2 are a bit scratchy around the edges for my own reasons, and although I respect the decision to maintain an intact original skeleton for these modifications, the result is what is a much more hardcore RPG experience.
The main reason for this is that Dragon Quest 1 specifically contains only one playable character during the entire journey. There are no party members to recruit, and therefore no assist on the battlefield – it’s just you. When I left the roadside tavern through the whole world of Dragon Quest 1 to go to the series “Returning thief Robbin”, I discovered that I had to get closer to the battles in a completely different way when I was completely alone. Movements that raised the implementation of my character, which I would never choose in Dragon Quest 3 suddenly seemed necessary. Usually my hero just went out on the offensive, while the healer made sure he stayed on my feet, but in this one -man program I had to stay alive, while inflicting as much damage as possible. I defeated Robbin ” after the complete employ of all my medical subjects and it was a satisfying victory. I probably prefer to have a whole event of various characters with unique classes, but I’m excited to play a different RPG style.
On the other hand, Dragon Quest 2 gives a full party of four characters on the battlefield, which was a welcome breath of fresh air after intensive insulation of the Dragon Quest 1 fight. Here Square Enix wanted to challenge us at this preview event, presenting us a high dungeon, for which we were clearly insufficient. My team was properly clogged, but I could check some of the novel combat options, which were specially added in 1 and 2. Remake 3 introduced a lot of fantastic battle options, including choices to accelerate battles, ask to make decisions yourself in accordance with the set list of strategies you choose, and an uncomplicated mode called a drack quest in which your characters cannot die. 1 and 2 restores all these options and introduces several novel ones, such as the possibility of still playing in uncomplicated mode, but without the invincible option, which was mandatory. But the most significant addition is the distinction that movements and spells are forceful in relation to any type of enemy you fight with. This can be turned on or off at any time, and it will definitely make the exping sessions much smoother or give novel players an emergency course on the best movements to choose from.
Although the original Dragon Quest 1 and 2 are not as beloved as Dragon Quest 3, I can’t wait to immerse myself in the full release of this RPG remake. In addition, there are apparently more surprises in the store, because Square Enix is teasing a novel phrase that will add a lot of content that was not present in the original games.
