Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero may have the most annoying menu ever

Published:

When writing life guides, you usually leave the menu open while working on each article. However, in this case with Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero menu, I furiously shut down the game and go to the PS5 home screen.

That’s because Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero the menus are so irritating that my brain loses focus. The most painful thing about these menus is that you will hear the same voice lines over and over, sometimes repeated immediately after they are said. You’ll hear the interviewer painfully asking Tien and Android 17 questions over and over again, or Goku asking Dende what he’s been up to. Hercules is also a nuisance, as he is constantly terrified of Goku appearing at his house via instant transmission.

Strange thing in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero the menu, however, is how characters speak and then receive no response. For example, Dende doesn’t say anything when Goku asks what he spends his time doing. It’s very repulsive. If you want them to say the same lines over and over again, at least have a conversation. It’s better than Goku saying, “Hmm, what do I want?” 8 times in two minutes.

Unfortunately, this is not the most irritating element Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero menu. When you go to the store in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, Bulma pesters you with the same lines over and over again, wishing Vegeta had taken her shopping. The same irritating tone of voice makes me stop typing about unlocking characters and quitting the game.

They also chose the most annoying character from the main menu, Zen-Oh. With his frustratingly high-pitched voice, he constantly asks Goku to play with him. As you follow Zen-Oh’s orders, he says the same thing again and asks, “Hey, hey, what are you going to play today?” and says, “I have a favor for you!” Sometimes he says that second line five times a minute. AHAHAHA! This is my nightmare.

But it’s not just the voices that are irritating. The way the menu is arranged is also jarring. You see, Goku cycles between each scene, which acts as a menu location. The problem is that this slows down the menu and if the left analog stick detects that the input is moving slightly left or right, it immediately moves to another section of the menu. Admittedly, this is a gentle inconvenience, but it happens so often that it becomes painful to deal with. At one point I even saw Master Roshi in the T position.

We hope that Bandai Namco and Spike Chunsoft will release a patch that will allow players to mute their characters. I’m immediately afraid to launch the game because of the annoying menu. Luckily, this fighting game is particularly awesome, so the gameplay makes up for it.
