Dragon Age: The Veilguard has just received its first patch, and while I’m sure you’ve seen the Mass Effect Gear Care Pack it adds to the game, you’ll also need to check out the rest of the notes because BioWare saved us all with some very strange NPC behavior.
You heard me, while you were considering dressing up as medieval fantasy Commander Shepard who sleeps in any Nomanda version of Milhouse’s dad’s racing bed, BioWare has done other significant things. So step away from the up-to-date ME gear crate next to the workshop that the patch added – which you’ll have access to after completing Harding’s “The Singing Blade” quest – and read it with me.

If you look through comments on correctionsyou’ll find that one of its sub-items reads: “NPC hiding no longer increases unexpectedly.” I don’t know about you, but I’m kind of melancholy that I’ve never seen something like this in a game, and I’m also glad it’s gone. One minute you’re tearing through the ruins, and the next, boom, you’re haggling with a veiled jumper who looks like a giraffe?
In any case, this isn’t the only engaging fix you’ll find alongside some of BioWare’s previously announced ones, as you should notice that “Harding and Taash’s banter no longer repeats itself indefinitely,” and for some reason, the studio has specified that the former “now has arrows in her quiver and ready for battle.” Great, Harding, you’ve obviously stopped showing up for work in an unworkable state.

BioWare says it has also “slowed down the speedy raven in Hossberg,” “corrected creepy corpse movements when moving on or off camera,” and ensured that “the Dalish elf in the Unwanted Guests quest is now a real elf.” Birds, bodies and weird, inappropriate racing moments, all sorted.
On a more earnest note, the developer has also made some adjustments to balance some of the combat and player skills, so it’s worth being careful when you first get into the action after the update.
