Gaming headsets have this annoying habit of being sold on PS5 or Xbox, but us lucky PC gamers usually benefit from being able to utilize either of them. With Razer’s PS5-compatible Blackshark V2 Pro, you may be worried that you can’t connect it to both devices, but it will work fine and you can get a significant discount because of it.
At Best Buy, you can get the 2023 Razer Blackshark V2 Pro for just $140, which is $60 less than the MSRP. To purchase the non-PlayStation version on Amazon will cost $180even though both have the same retail price, pre-order. This means you really get the benefits and get the same basic device, except it comes with a USB-C receiver rather than USB-A. If you don’t have USB-C on your computer or want to connect it to your Xbox as well, the latter is the only choice here, but you should choose the former if you have a spare USB-C slot.
I spent a significant amount of time using the Rainbow Six Siege version of the previous Razer Blackshark V2 Pro, and the 2023 refresh only improves things with a much nicer microphone and up to 70 hours of battery life in 2.4 GHz wireless mode.
Comparing it to the previous model in our review, we said, “We’d probably forgive it for jumping on the V3 moniker, because Razer has really improved one of our favorite wireless gaming headsets.”
The 50mm TriForce Titanium vigorous drivers sound great in this headset, being very clear and providing plenty of dynamics that will really immerse you in your games. If you want something even bigger, you can turn on THX surround sound to create a surprising effect for a set of closed cans.
If you’re looking for a great-sounding headset with a clear microphone and a solid battery, Razer has you covered, and the headset is not only comfortable, it also looks great. The quality of life updates added from the model may not fully make up for the difference in MSRP, but at $60 off, it’s a great deal and will be difficult to beat at this price point.
