Divinity: Original Sin 2 will receive a free update on PS5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2

Did you see the Divinity preview at The Game Awards and think, hey, I should really start playing Divinity: Original Sin 2? Great news, Larian has just made the contemporary console experience a lot more enjoyable with a free update for PS5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2.

This was announced in a fresh trailer that highlights the differences in the fresh versions. It’s nothing special – just better resolution and frame rate. However, it is free if you already own it on any of the previous platforms (PS4, Nintendo Switch or Xbox One). We hope this will bring the eight-year-old game up to par with current console technology.

If you don’t already have this game anywhere, now is probably a good time to get it. At the time of writing, it is available in several places. 50% off when you purchase the NIntendo Switch regular edition for $25 and then get a free upgrade to Switch 2. On Xbox, the price drops to $17.49. If you own the game on PC, don’t worry because you don’t need the update. You already have a great version of the game.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is fantastic and worth checking out if you haven’t already. We gave the latest Definitive Edition back in 2018 with a 9.6/10, saying it was “a new way to play one of the absolute best RPGs in years. Whether you’re re-starting the game on PC or launching it for the first time on console, its flexibility, personality and charm make for an incredible adventure.”

This might be worth checking out before the fresh Divinity releases, as Larian stated that Original Sin 1 and 2 players may “be able to enjoy greater understanding and continuity.”
