Director Overwatch 2 says that Blizzard wants to “return to” the content of the story after the fans feel that they “dropped the ball” from PVE

Overwatch 2 The director of the game Aaron Keller asked that Blizzard Entertainment “dropped the ball” when it comes to such things as the content of the story, PVE and animated shorts.

The face of the popular Blizzard shooter opened on the team’s struggles during an interview with content creator Jay3 I Overwatch 2 voice actor Conor McLeod. Although the multiplayer title is largely known from its team game, Keller recognizes that some of the content of the story will have to “come back” to make Overwatch 2 “shooting at all cylinders.”

“One of the things we hear about our players, whom you talk about, see online … It seems that Overwatch dropped the ball when it comes to history and knowledge,” Keller said in response to McLeod’s question. “You see it a bit. We used to put up a few large animated shorts than nowadays.”

Overwatch Animated Shorts is a sore place for fans. Blizzard originally aroused emotions thanks to a series of high -quality films in 2016–2023, with each emphasizing skills for characters such as Reinhardt, Hanzo, Genji, Mei, Bastion and others, showing how many of the 43 players match the greater history. What began as slightly constant drops of knowledge began to rely on the release of Overwatch 2 in 2022. Almost two years have passed since the fans received a 3D animated king.

Frustrations due to the lack of animated shorts reached a boiling point when Blizzard announced scrapping the ambition of the hero PVE in the summer of 2023. With a long -term mode based on canceled history and animated low publishing houses, Blizzard had to start from scratch. Although the years have passed without a significant update, Keller claims that the Overwatch 2 team has not left history completely.

“Speaking of it honestly, we had a big plan to follow the story in the game. It was a PVE page with the campaign and everything,” he added. “It failed. So it was a bit of a moment of reset for us, when it happened, and we would like to come back to it. I think that one of the best parts of Overwatch is the universe and the characters that are there. This is definitely our goal to go back to it. It was a bit backwards so that we could start moving forward.”

I think we said Overwatch 2 shoots all cylinders, we must come back some of them.

Blizzard announced a facelift on Overwatch 2 in February this year. During the collapse, the studio announced a modern PvP mode called Stadium, as well as the return of free cosmetics awards, two modern heroes and a plan for the next year of content. Since then, many of these additions have appeared, including a fundamental change in the game called Perks, signaling that Blizzard found a basis because it provides significant promises.

Many of these changes have been accepted with open arms by the Overwatch 2 community, but as modern players they gather why fans suddenly talk about the shooter of the heroes 2016, the desire for the content of the story still resembles ech in Reddit threads and posts X/Twitter.

One of the ideas of many fans – including McLeod – will gladly see that there is a TV series Overwatch. Keller says that he is not against this idea, moving until we say “we would like to do it.” It is not clear how, if or whether Keller and the Overwatch 2 team will be able to enter another golden age. One thing is clear: Keller knows that Overwatch fans want more content content.

“I think we said that Overwatch 2 shoots all cylinders, we must return some of them,” said Keller.

Overwatch 2 is currently during the 17th season: Powered Up, which contains a selection of leather inspired by retro-gaming, mythical cosmetics for Reaper and D.VA, New Stage Heroes and Crossover from Gi Joe.
