The 2011 3D platformer Sonic Generations is getting an updated version later this year, Sonic x Shadow Generations, and before its release, the original will be pulled from the roster… which many people are not ecstatic about, as you might imagine. However, in response to fan feedback, Sega has announced that the currently available Sonic Generations collection will remain available as part of a bundle with other older Sonic games.
That’s probably for the best. Despite the excitement surrounding the updated Sonic X Shadow Generations and any concerns about the game’s preservation, Sonic Generations has a decade of modding and fan work behind it that would have started to fade if there wasn’t a legal way to get the game. After all, it’s one of the few good 3D Sonic games.
This novel bundle will include Sonic Generations Collection, Sonic Adventure DX, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 1, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode 2, Sonic 3D Blast, and Sonic Spinball. It will retail for $59.99, although “bundle contents and pricing may vary by region.”
You can find Sonic Generations Collection on Steamat least until the company’s delisting on September 9.
