Location of hidden ruins and how to start the “Cotton Candy Hunt”

To unlock this quest you must complete “Let’s play a game”Expedition in the Eastern Temple. You’ll also need to beat the main story long enough to close the game’s rift Faron Wetlands. This becomes possible after closing the first two rifts in Gerudo Valley and completing the Hyrule Castle dungeon. (Our Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom the guide can provide guidance on the best order to complete these tasks.)

Once you’ve done both of these, you’ll be able to find a deku scrub in the Faron Wetlands looking for cotton candy. They will say they heard a voice asking to play a game (sound familiar?) and saw cotton candy flying.

You may have an idea of what they actually saw, but there’s no way to tell them, and you still want to visit the Hidden Ruins, right?

To find them, head south to the watery area southwest of the Faron Wetlands. You can also hop near the Temple of Pharon and head north.

How to enter the Hidden Ruins

In this swampy area, first defeat the two drips (one on the lily pad and one hiding in the grass at the back of this area) to stop the rain.

Now employ it water block “stairs” to get to the level of the furnaces, and ignisol to illuminate them both. This will move the statue behind, revealing the entrance to the Hidden Ruins.

In the first room you will simply find a few stoves, jars and a treasure chest monster stone inside. Continue once you’re done looting everything.

The sparks are back! Just like in the Eastern Temple, you will need to pick up these two and lead them to the cube mechanism at the back of the room. Alternatively, you can grease it by summoning two sparks and shoot them directly at him. Problem solved.

Use igniizol here to set fire to anything flammable. You’ll find sparks under the cobwebs again – either move the boulders so they can reach the mechanism, or employ your echo to open the door.

First, employ it Bind to move the boulder up towards the cube. The spark circulating around it will follow it and enter the cube. Now employ Extended Echo Summon (holding Y) to fire two more times sparks which will hit the boulder and enter the cube.

In this room, climb down the ladders and then stack the water blocks to reach the platform level with the sparks swirling around it. This works best if you place them against a wall, not directly touching the platform, as the sparks will electrocute the water.

It’s easiest to defeat the sparks while on the platform so you don’t have to constantly avoid them. Moblins with spears they are still useful here. Open the chest for 20 rupees.

Jump down again and build another stack of water blocks on the other side of the next platform. (This spark must travel far enough for you to have time to climb on it before it electrocutes the water again.) Go to the next room on the right.

Use long press Y to shoot three sparks to the cube here. Then you can just go to the next room – there’s nothing in the water except an electric shock.

A little breather here. Break the jars and continue.

How to beat Smog, hidden ruins boss

Smog is back! Not too surprising considering the Deku Scrub report. It will immediately break into three clouds. If you remember the last time you played this game with him, you’ll need to make them bump into each other to reconnect them since they don’t take damage in this form.

At this stage we used the bed falling from the top platform to push the tallest cloud onto the larger platform below. Its path then intersected with the right cloud, and shortly thereafter with the left cloud.

Once reassembled, Smog can take many more hits than before, but it can be worn down. We found an effective method of filling the bottom of the room path blades to make it completely unsafe. It still took a while (the path blades aren’t that powerful), but it was pretty sheltered as long as you stayed in the middle of the room and avoided the lightning balls.

This time the smog will split into five clouds. On the right and left where the two platforms are going around, the statues will force the lower cloud to rise and cause a collision. (You may need to employ Bind change driving direction.)

You can then push the top cloud down, causing another collision. Depending on where the resulting combos land, continue moving and manipulating them until you get Smog back.

The second part of the combined fight against smog is very similar to the first part – and seems to take less time. Once you defeat him, Smog will explode, turning into a handful of rupees, monster stones, and a piece of heart. Then you will be able to get out and exit the Hidden Ruins.

How to complete “Cotton Candy Hunt”

Return to the Deku bushes in Scrubton and tell them the bad news. They won’t believe you, but they will see archaic charm that you got in the Let’s Play a Game sidequest and we’ll fix it anyway. It becomes fascinating charm which greatly reduces damage when Zelda is wearing it.

Congratulations on finishing Cotton candy hunting search! Too bad there was no cotton candy in the end.
