Decentralized has become the latest victim in a series of hacker attacks on social media. September 19, 2024 blockchain security company PeckShield reported that the official X Decentraland account was compromised. Attackers used the account to post a phishing link, falsely claiming to be offering a MANA token airdrop.

Despite the recent break-in, MANA token did not suffer any lossesat the time of writing this text, token transactions for $0.29up almost 9% in the last 24 hours, according to CoinMarketCap.
Phishing scam
The fraudulent link directed users to a website which prompted them to connect their digital wallets to claim the alleged airdrop. However, instead of receiving MANA tokens, users have discovered that their funds have been compromised shortly after merging their portfolios.
The scam was reported on September 19 at 01:50 UTC. The attackers pinned the post and disabled comments so that users could not warn each other.
