Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Removes “Erotic” Genre From Photography Mini-Game

Published:

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is coming out in about a month, and as up-to-date information comes in, we’re discovering that the upcoming remaster will remove the ability for players to take an “erotic” photo.

As noted in up-to-date report from Famitsu (noted by Eurogamer), the Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster photography mini-game removed the “Erotica” genre from player-taken photos. In the original game and its subsequent 2016 release, there were 6 types of photos depending on what Frank was photographing. A photo from a specific genre rewarded players with an additional Prestige Point (PP) bonus for the photo. The Erotica genre was available when players took photos of certain angles of a female character or zombie.

While the Photography mini-game is almost entirely optional, as it is not required to take photos while completing the main story, the mechanic plays a role in several side missions Frank can complete. As for the Erotica genre being omitted, two optional missions require Frank to take Erotica photo(s). The question remains how these missions will be changed due to the removal of the photo type.

Capcom did not immediately respond to IGN’s request for comment.

Beyond that, Capcom has clearly put a lot of effort into improving the overall gameplay in Dead Rising. As Capcom previously revealed, the upcoming Deluxe Remaster has improved the Survivor AI, making it easier to escort Survivors to safety, as well as a up-to-date control scheme that lets players move while aiming, and it also brings fully voiced NPCs, realistic lighting, and facial expression improvements.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will release digitally on September 19th, or November 8th if you prefer to grab a digital copy. For more, check out our recent deep dive into gameplay with the game’s director and producer.
