Dead by Daylight’s Highly Requested 2v8 Mode Extended by Two Weeks

Published:

Even though Dead by Daylight’s most anticipated mode was set to end today, developer Behavior Interactive announced today that it has extended the 2v8 mode’s trial period by two weeks.

IN up-to-date post on X/TwitterBehaviour Interactive announced today that the initial run of the 2v8 mode will end on Thursday, August 15th at 8 a.m. PST / 11 a.m. EST. More interestingly, Behaviour Interactive revealed that the reason for extending the 2v8 trial run was due to high demand from the community, in addition to revealing with 2v8 making up over 40% of all Dead by Daylight games played since its debut behind schedule last month, despite the 2v8 mode having long wait times.

“We’ve been impressed with your response to 2v8 over the past two weeks, and we’ve heard your request to extend the mode beyond its planned end date,” Behavior Interactive wrote in the post.

While fans have been clamoring for 2v8 for years, there is no ETA yet on if/when 2v8 will be a constant mode in Dead by Daylight. However, in a separate post, Behavior Interactive he wrote that the introduction of 2v8 was “just a first iteration” with the intention of refining the mode before making it a constant part of Dead by Daylight. Specifically, the development teams want to address the challenges of 2v8 matchmaking and diversity in Killers, along with a “more engaging Survivor experience.”

For those unfamiliar, 2v8 mode, as the name suggests, is a game mode in Dead by Daylight that increases the player count from 1 Killer and 4 Survivors to 2 Killers and 8 Survivors. Along with the raise in player count, 2v8 introduces several changes to the core Dead by Daylight gameplay. These include a larger map and the removal of Hooks and Perks.

In our Dead by Daylight review, which we rated 9/10, IGN wrote, “After nearly five years, Dead by Daylight has evolved into an incredible slasher movie simulator and the ultimate asymmetric multiplayer game.”
