Kyle Katarn – Star Wars Black Series Figure

The Kyle Katarn figure stands six inches lofty and has good articulation. The set includes a blue-bladed blaster and lightsaber, with a standard blade and one that imitates a blurred swing effect. This is a figure that looks good enough for adults to enjoy as a collector’s item, but is equally fun to play with, with a suggested age range of 4+.

The video game Star Wars: Dark Forces was released on PC in 1995, and was ported to the PS1 console a year later. It’s one of the early “Doom clones,” but it had a mighty enough story and gameplay elements to stand on its own. In terms of gameplay, it featured novel ideas such as the ability to jump and duck, as well as look up and down, which was missing in Doom and Doom 2.

Dark Forces takes place in the (no longer canonical) Expanded Universe, around the time of the first Star Wars film. The plot focuses on Kyle Katarna, a mercenary working for the Rebel Alliance, who discovers the Dark Troopers Project and tries to stop it. This mission takes him across the galaxy to places such as Jabba’s yacht, the Imperial mines on Gromas, the interior of a Star Destroyer, and more.

Star Wars: Dark Forces underwent a remaster last year, making it available on newfangled platforms, improving graphics and adding various quality of life improvements.
