CD Projekt Cyberpunk 2077 Continuation, Codenamed Project Orion, is a strictly guarded secret, but this did not stop the creator of Cyberpunk Mike Pondsmith from teasing some previously unknown details.
Pondsmith, who worked closely with CD Projekt at 30 million Cyberpunk 2077 sales and was involved in promoting the game before launching in 2020, was asked about the scope of his commitment at Project Orion in Digital Dragons 2025 conference.
Answering, Pondsmith admitted that this time he was not so involved, but he was reviewing the scripts and was at CD Projekt to check the ongoing work.
“Last week I wandered after a conversation with various departments and saw what they had:” Oh, this is up-to-date cyberwels, what do you think? ” “Oh yes, it’s pretty good, it works here.” “
And then a bite of details about the continuation: that he offers a completely up-to-date city except Night City, which we know from Cyberpunk 2077. Pondsmith described this up-to-date city as “how Chicago went wrong.”
“I spent a lot of time talking to one of the environments, and he explained how a new place in Orion, because there is another city that we visit – I do not tell you more, but there is another city that we visit. And Night City is still there. But I remember how he looked at it and I go, yes, I understand that you go to the fact that it works, and it really works. Chicago.
It is worth noting here that Pondsmith’s comments do not necessarily suggest that the continuation of Cyberpunk will include the future Chicago, or rather a city, which is a dystopian version of the city. This may be an approach to Future Chicago, but this is not confirmed on the basis of these comments.
There is already a debate on whether the continuation of Cyberpunk will expand to the night City in Cyberpunk 2077, or contains a new version, and the range in which it can be reproduced. There are many unknowns, but it seems that there may be two developed cities in this continuation.
While CD Projekt is now focusing on Witcher 4, it has a new studio created in Boston to work on Project Orion. At the beginning of this year, CD Projekt said that 84 out of 707 employees worked on the Orion project, which is still in the concept phase. A lot can change and we don’t expect the game for some time.
There is also a new Cyberpunk animation project on Netflix to well -received cyberpunk: Edgerunners. In the shorter period, Cyberpunk 2077 is to be launched on Nintendo Switch 2.
