The creator of Civilization 7 explained why he strongly recommends that even the CIV veteran hold a tutorial to their first full campaign.
In the post CoupleEd Beach, innovative director at Firaxis Games, presented his tips on the first game of civilization 7.
“Civilization 7 is a big game, with many new systems and mechanics that distinguish it from previous games in our series,” he began. “There is a lot to learn, so we thought it is important that we present some suggestions to provide everyone with a successful first experience.”
It is a reference to the Civization 7’s Ages system, which is a drastic change for a long -term strategy series. A full campaign in civilization 7 is one that has been going through all three centuries: antiquity, exploration and modernity. After the end of the century, all players (and all opponents of AI) experience the passage of age at the same time. During the passage of age, three things happen: you choose a up-to-date civilization from New Age to represent your empire, you choose which legacy you want to keep in a up-to-date era, and the world of games is evolving. Civilization games have never had such a system.
Then the beach explained why Firaxis chose compact as the default map size for civilization 7.
“We know that many experienced civic players love to play on the largest map size and see how the maximum number of empires is fighting,” he said. “However, there is a very deliberate reason why we chose small as the default map size. With three other empires on your home continent and a few to discover at a later time of the game, small maps provide a very comfortable experience when you learn the secrets of CIV 7.
“We especially recommend this map size when you soggy your feet in our up-to-date diplomacy system. Tracking relationships and ongoing diplomatic activities with the number of opponents that can be managed to understand how you want to spend and manage diplomatic influences.
“We also recommend keeping the continents plus to choose the type of map. Additional islands next to the shore will help you facilitate the exploration of the ocean-cluster element of the exploration era, the second chapter of our game. “
When it comes to tutorials and advisers, Beach confirmed that when you fired a civilization 7, a tutorial is turned on for you. He also strongly recommended the civic game with the game in tutorial, at least for their first full game.
“The tutorial was designed to provide instructions and explanations exactly after you meet something new for the first time,” Beach explained.
“Fans experienced with previous civic titles can mock the idea of playing with the tutorial, but with so many of our game systems received improvements and corrections, we really recommend sticking to the tutorial to the first full campaign in our three centuries.
“Remember that the game has four different advisers and you can control who actively lead you through a series of tasks to teach you their parts of the game. If this is too much to take part in all, we suggest listening to only one adviser at once. “
Even after mastering a sufficient number of systems to turn off the tutorial, you should go to the warnings on the setting, recommended the beach.
“This setting allows advisers to jump and warn you if the progress of your empire intends to undergo a solemn failure,” he said. “Even our internal Firaxis band who knows that this game plays so well with these warnings!”
