Capcom is clearly well aware of the interest in bringing even more of its classic fighting games to current platforms.

As reported Nintendo LifeShuhei Matsumoto, producer of the upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Game Collection: Arcade Classics, spoke with IGN during the recent EVO 2024 fighting game tournament in Las Vegas. During the interview, Matsumoto talked about the possibility of more of Capcom’s best fighting games coming to current hardware.

“We have a lot of other older fighting games that we know fans really want to see rereleased on modern platforms, and that feeling is mutual on the developer side,” Matsumoto explained, “we want people to experience all of these other classic games. What we can do now is try to rerelease them so that people who may have never had the chance to play those games can experience them, and from there we can hopefully move on to bigger and better things.”

This year’s EVO event stood out for showing off legendary fighting games Street Fighter 3: Third Strike on the main stage. Impressively, the 1999 title – widely considered the crown jewel of Capcom’s classic fighting games – drew over 1,100 attendees at EVO. According to EVO division by numbers, Third Strike was the fifth most popular title at the event, with more participants than As part of Night Labor 2 Sys: Celes (785) Mortal Kombat 1 (645) and King of warriors 15 (375).

One sec Third Strike you can play (online, of course) via Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection There is a dedicated version available on Nintendo Switch and PS4, just like the beloved Street Fighter 3: Third Strike Online Edition on PS3 and Xbox 360 would be great to see. Also, with the recent re-release SNK vs Capcom: SvC Chaos, Full Capcom vs SNK collection doesn’t seem all that unlikely. Only time will tell.
