Etherlight and Oatmello have their own game Dream Sweeper premiere in two days July 24, 2024 It’s a strange mix of a dungeon crawler roguelite and a classic game with gloomy origins, Sapper.
It’s not often you see this Sapper infiltrate other games. The early Windows classic involved searching through a field of blocks while trying—despite the name—to avoid mines. The only way to locate mines is via numerical clues that appear next to cleared blocks, telling you how many mines border that square.
I used to be really good at it when I was younger. I think a lot of people senior enough have had a phase where they’ve mastered it.
Dream Sweeper takes the mine-dodging gameplay and applies it to a dungeon crawler. Every step you take carries a risk, and a cleared block will show you the number of threats that are nearby. Enemy fights are presented as a rhythm game. You can buy accessories that will change the way you play.
Speaking of rhythm, Dream Sweeper the game features a low-quality soundtrack to relax you as you traverse procedurally generated dungeons, with your only way to avoid disaster being arithmetic.
Dream Sweeper PC release July 24, 2022. Switch version planned for a later date.
