Surprise! Activision Blizzard suddenly released remasters of Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, as well as Warcraft II. Moreover, Warcraft III: Reforged has received the 2.0 update, fixing several issues with the game that let’s hope will make it more representative for fans of classic Blizzard RTS games. Announced on November 13 Directly on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Warcraftthe reveal is part of Warcraft’s 30th anniversary celebration, which is playing a large role in Blizzard’s Warcraft content this year. Previously, some classic Warcraft cosmetics appeared in the contemporary version of World of Warcraft during mid-update celebrations, as well as various rewards and events based on the history of World of Warcraft itself.

The modern Warcraft I and Warcraft II remasters feature modern hand-drawn graphics, and players can switch between modern and venerable graphics in real-time. Warcraft 1 and right-click movement and faster game speed, while both games have various UI and UX improvements. You’ll also be ecstatic to know that Warcraft 2 has working multiplayer maps and playable classic maps.
Much depends on these remasters, mainly due to the original quality of Warcraft III: Reforged. This game had many problems at launch, including bugs, matchmaking issues, visual issues related to its overall refreshed aesthetic, and a controversial clause stating that any custom maps created in the game were the property of Blizzard in perpetuity, without license. You have to understand that DOTA started out as a custom map for Warcraft 3, so it’s up to the company to make sure that a huge modern game that it doesn’t own doesn’t accidentally come out. Still disgusting!
If these improvements come to market and address many of these issues, it will be a glimmer of good news for both Blizzard and retro Blizzard RTS fans, something both can always benefit from. You know, these games were a staple of PC gaming back in the day, so getting them some quality contemporary love can only be a good thing. We need to see what they are like!
