Be serene! Dark Mount Gaming keyboard review

Published:

I recently interrupted my friend in the middle of the flow of ancient Huntsman Razer to ask why they like keyboards so much. In response, they offered me a passionate speech about mechanical keyboards, ending with the words “God, I would like her to have a lever, you know? Something that I could pull at the end of each line – like a type writer!”

It seems that some of us want to return to ~ device ~ but what if you still want this touch without the risk of waking up the whole house with your machinations 3 am (or in my case another series of blue prince, because I refuse to be beaten by transferring the shape of all things)? Well, silence flights are not recently expanded to peripheral devices, introducing suppressed sounds of the game keyboard that will allow you to expect. As a modular, full -size keyboard, shadowy mounts likes not only versatility, but the premium price, which fits up to 255 USD/240 GBP/260 EUR.

Before I really immerse myself in weeds, let me first take care of the most obvious point: is it so serene? In a word, yes; Although it is not completely serene, many layers of suppressing foam and silicone sound mean that every keypress is pleasantly understated. Even the space bar, usually the loudest key on many kebach, has been quietly developed here.

In addition to suppressing the sound, the shadowy unit that I review owes many of its keys of lower linear mechanical switches. In brief, comparing it to the smaller siblings, strict mounting, these switches give each keypress a charming, basic start without such a subtle elastic feedback from available touch switches.

In my Light Mount review I compared each keys on these tactile switches to a indefinite descent towards a solid ground. To operate the same metaphor, the touch switches offer some grassy reflection, while the line switches on a shadowy attachment are perhaps more similar to the dainty touching of the challenging wood floor.

The keys themselves are made of PBT, not a smoother belly feeling, although this more textured character does not divert attention from what remains great keys (when it comes to materials, PBT is a more hard, longer choice). But if neither this nor any of the above is your atmosphere, you can easily replace both edges and switch with the puller supplied in the box. As long as what you want to replace is compatible with 5-pin board sockets, you can adjust the impression of a shadowy mount.

Now let me finally turn to the nervous truck in the room: there is more than on this game keyboard. There is not much in this, with an exceptionally additional RGB lightweight bar lined on the entire outer edge of the plate, which is most significant to distinguish it from fixing lightweight at first glance.

Be a dark keyboard dark quiet seen on the desk. Modular multimedia stacks and NUMPAD attachments are attached. The two -piece magnetic rest of the wrist is attached. RGB lights are turned on, bathing everything in a flat rainbow glow.

Like this smaller keyboard, you can also adjust the brightness and view lighting profiles using shortcuts reproduced to the keys of functions and arrows, with further adjustment in the Be Quiet’s Center software. Thanks to Itty Bitty, individually configurable segments that work the entire length of the keyboard lightweight, the effect of lighting the Dark Mount foundation is a real stop.

But even with such an impressive lightweight show, this compact desk party is just beginning. By turning the main part of the keyboard, you will notice a number of additional USB-C ports. In addition to the expected USB-C port on the top edge of the keyboard for a dedicated wired connection to the computer, there are two more, and two more found on the right and left hand of the disc. They are for the two main modular attachments of Dark Mount, contained in the box.

As the modular designs of the shadowy mountain not just resemble Mountain Everest Max, but the attachment of numbers seems directly comparable – and for a reason. This is due to the fact that she was a mini -cuts, Loutan Group, bought Mountain a few years ago, both the modular shadowy mountain and its lightweight of siblings are probably a direct result of this acquisition.

My review unit is equipped with a media doc, which can be broken into two positions along the upper edge, as well as a numbers that can fall on the left or right edge of the keyboard for two -handed treatment. Numberpad has more charming, suppressed sounds of PBT keys, as well as eight subsequent improper buttons above them.

The mechanical keyboard of the dark fastening mechanical from Cicha is approaching! Here we see the upper line of the buttons on the modular attachment of the NUMPAD. Instead of typical PBT keys on the rest of the board, these eight buttons are low profile and plastic, intended for user remission. RGB lights are turned on, bathing everything in orange.

Dock Media has a tactile scroll wheel for volume control and a number of multimedia control buttons, as well as a compact integrated screen with your own menu navigation buttons. Scrolling from left to right, this compact docking screen offers controls on time, date and brightness, as well as the basic options for adjusting the lighting profile.

Installing the Dark Mount modular attachments is quite basic, although at first I found a connected USB-C number connector. My very successful colleague did not have such a problem, which shows that the numberpad is much more robust than at first I was worried. In general, the modular attachment mechanisms are quite elegant, hidden by easily detached dust panels when they are not used – although I think these are the first things I lose.

The rooks ready to go to walkabout are also far from the only inelegant aspect of this keyboard. Ready to fry compact potatoes? First of all, the modular keyboard design requires a similarly separated wrist -attached rest, thanks to which it feels much less sheltered than the detachable rest of the Light Mount hand.

Buy if …

You would discreetly want to play slow at night: Three layers of silicone and foam, combined with your own factory -lubricated Be Quiet switches, will ensure that you will not wake up everyone within five miles.

You want a mechanical keyboard with true versatility: In addition to two -handed modular destinations, shadowy fastening offers many renovation buttons next to the bulb with configurable segments along the entire outer edge of the keyboard.

Don’t buy if …

You want a more recommended set of game functions: Although Dark Mount does not offer a rejected survey indicator of 1000 Hz Plus NKRO, you will not find here things such as a speedy trigger or configurable launch.

Post -mass destinations available for both Numberpad and Dock Media make it a versatile keyboard – but unfortunately Dark Mount did not completely convince me about the modular keyboards. At the beginning I am fine and really converts the multimedia knob, so the low Dark Mount scrolling wheel simply does not do it for me. Low -profile media control buttons and the menu are similarly too shallow to act in a way that offers a lot of touch feedback; On a mechanical keyboard I found this strange sensory contrast.

Eight plastic buttons on NUMPAD offers slightly clickable feedback, but there is no doubt that the event below is numbered PBT keys. Despite this, these eight keys can be adjusted via the IO Center to offer various functions with one press. It’s fun, say, she put my computer to sleep or open a task manager with one click of the button. But, just like it interacts, which seemed to be a good idea at the time, but it is intended for Depop, I just don’t reach. Despite this, just because I couldn’t make this versatile keyboard not mean that you would not be able to do it easily.

Without encouraging any competition of siblings, but I preferred cheaper lightweight (even if it is not as accessible as the appropriate ancestor of the keyboard, Mountain Everest 60). Although it is nice, I left, feeling that Dark Mount attachments were very collected for my daily operate.

There is also the fact that so far both keyboard offers be serene specific functions for games are lightweight on earth for the price. If you are looking for a more e-dor set of functions that includes a quick trigger and configurable startup, I would say that it is better to choose the Corsair K70 Pro TKL (although you can find even cheaper options among our best game keyboard guide). Having said, for my money (and my cluttered desk space), lightweight does everything I want in a much more concentrated package compared to a shadowy mount, while offering one of the most rich, configurable RGB lights, which I had the pleasure of impatiently.
