Balatro is about to have a massive day, just like the hugely popular roguelike card game nominated in five different categories during today’s Game Awards gala. But that’s not all, as developer LocalThunk has announced a fresh co-op update that adds cards based on eight different games. Not a bad reason to restart the game and potentially lose many more hours of your life.
The third “Friends of Jimbo” update includes fresh cards based on indie games like the adventure game Sunset Visitor 1000xResistanceto larger companies such as Larian Studios Divine original sin II. LocalThunk announced the update with a teaser Final Fantasy XVI actor Ben Starr dressed as Jimbo, Balatroclown mascot, so if you’ve ever wanted to hear Clive Rosfield do his best maniacal clown impression, look no further than the full trailer below. Balatro has been featured in a number of huge games since it became the most surprising hit of the year upon its release in February. Just this week Cyberpunk 2077 I got it long side quest depicting figures and iconography from Balatroalthough some players have problems activating this feature after launching the game.
