Atomfall, the next game that will look to satisfy our British Fallout cravings in the blink of an eye, just got one of the saddest release date trailers ever

Published:

Atomfall, the upcoming game from Sniper Elite developer Rebellion that many people are looking for as the next radioactive-tinged British post-apocalypse fix that isn’t quite the official version of Fallout for our sorrowful little island, now has a proper release date. It will premiere on March 25, 2025, as suggested by a up-to-date trailer featuring a very English countryside setting.

While technically British Fallout was created earlier this year thanks to the massive Fallout: London mod, which we really liked when it didn’t have too many bugs, since Atomfall was announced, we’ve seen comparisons like this on a regular basis. It’s up to you to decide whether this is justified and you now have more material to work with.

The latest Atomfall trailer, which will end with the aforementioned release date of March 25 next year, takes place in an iconic British location – the forest. In fact, Ben Fisher, deputy project manager for Rebellion at Casterfell Woods, explains in: Xbox Wire Mail released with a trailer. Apparently it is “a wild and inhospitable place with an immediately eerie atmosphere.”

Yes, add to that the abundance of discarded condoms and beer cans strewn next to the wicker men in Casterfell, and that’s a pretty precise description of the many wooded areas around where I live. The fact that the trailer basically shows some needy guy listening to a folk tune and then being attacked by a stranger who walks away whistling next to a dilapidated phone booth also feels very realistic in England.

Anyway, the payphone rings, and Fisher says it’s essential, writing: “The voice at the end of the phone line is one of many Atomfall mysteries that players will have to deal with if they want to get to the bottom of what happened in Atomfall . Windscale nuclear power plant many years ago.”

In terms of influences, the creator adds that Atomfall draws from sci-fi classics like Doctor Who, The Quatermass Experiment and The Day of the Triffids to create terrifying forest setpieces for its survival, er, action.

You’ll be able to try the game on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5 and PS4 at launch, as well as on Xbox Game Pass on day one. Let us know below how seedy your local forest is and if you plan on playing Atomfall.
