Atomfall gameplay video delves deeper into the world and its dangers

Rebellion has released a novel gameplay video for its upcoming survival action game Atomfall. Atomfall is set after the real-life Windscale nuclear disaster in British history and is an alternative take on what happened after those events, with much more going wrong. Players are kept in a quarantine zone where soldiers, bandits and other dangers lurk.

Atomfall’s gameplay video gives us a look at the world, including the village where you’ll spend a lot of time, as well as the nearby wilderness and bunkers. The beginning of the game will be similar to Fallout in the sense that you wake up and have no knowledge of the outside world. The player’s character suffers from complete amnesia, which gives a lot of freedom to survive in this world. You can try to facilitate everyone or pose a threat to different groups. One of the groups present is the British military, which has been sent to establish a quarantine zone. However, under military rule, things are very strict and even the slightest indiscretion is an excuse for them to punish you.

The military is not the only potential threat. Outside the village boundaries, the situation is more risky. Outlaws and bandits roam the area, posing a real threat to the player. They will attack right away, not caring if you can be warm. The elderly quarry, the surrounding hills and other places have their secrets to discover. They also have the resources you will need to survive in the world of Atomfall. The bunkers are home to irradiated creatures and patrolling security robots that will also attack players on sight. But these bunkers are the key to discovering what happened, so they need to be explored.

Combat will be a mix of close combat, with cricket bats being the preferred weapon. There are also pistols, shotguns and rifles, but since this is England, ammunition will not be simple to find. By using items found in the environment, weapons can be upgraded, making them more effective against enemies. Crafting will also be crucial to survival, allowing players to craft things like bombs and healing items. A metal detector will also be part of the player’s inventory, allowing them to search the area for buried supply crates. Manuals can also be found in the world of Atomfall, unlocking novel skills for your character, such as throwing weapons. The skills are grouped into four categories; ranged combat, melee combat, survival and fitness.

Atomfall will be available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5 and PS4 on March 27, 2025.
