Case maker Flash Scale has announced a recent, ultra-compact Micro-ATX case that’s similar in size and form to a Mini-ITX case, IT Home reports. Known as the G300 “Mini Cannon,” the case measures just 16.8 liters and has a handle on the top for basic portability.
The G300 features a popular configuration among Mini-ITX cases: the power supply is mounted in the front of the case. Compared to conventional configurations, this change significantly improves space efficiency and allows case designers to reduce the size of the case, which would otherwise be impossible.
The entire case is focused on performance, with the front, side, top, and bottom panels all featuring a mesh-style design to improve cooling efficiency. With a Micro-ATX design, the case supports enormous 164mm CPU air coolers or optional AIO liquid coolers up to 280mm statuesque. The only exception is that the power supply needs to be switched from an ATX unit to an SFX unit to work with 240mm or 280mm radiators. GPU compatibility is also quite good, supporting graphics cards with up to four slots up to 340mm long.
In this case, the “front I/O” and power button have been moved to the side. It has two 5Gbps USB 3.2 Type-A ports, two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, and a combo audio/microphone jack.
At just 16 liters, the G300 is one of the smallest Micro-ATX cases in the world. For comparison, other similar Mini-ITX cases equipped with the exact same components can be larger than the G300. The Cooler Master NR200P is one such Mini-ITX case, which officially measures 18 liters. Not only is the NR200P larger, but it also has more limitations, only supporting 155mm CPU coolers and triple-slot graphics cards, not to mention that it only supports Mini-ITX motherboards.
Unfortunately, it’s unclear whether this chassis will be available outside of China. The chassis is currently on sale on JD.com for 349 yuan.
