Asus Proart Case PA401 Review

Published:

The Proart range is intended for professional creators, not PC players, and I think ASUS thinks that PC players do not have a class. I can already hear that ASUS representative has now tapped me e -mail, so let me explain. This is an elegant case and whether it aims to have professional creators or professional players, many, which many should take into account for their next compilation – but not without any reservations.

Initial draw PA401? Real wood. You know that you did it when the PC housing was once lived. Each of the slats over the front consumption on PA401 is made of (balanced) ash with a shiny finish. Such shiny, in fact the grain is much less noticeable compared to the Terra or North fractal design. It is almost indistinguishable from plastic, unless you are to it. Personally, I like it. Called the wooden effect, it fits the petite design in the rest of the case. But other members of the PC Gamer team thought they needed a little more pizza.

All in all, a basic case to be built, Proart stands out for smaller details. The Proart logo on a dog cover, which grows from under the darkened chain, or a line thrown on the upper edge of the box “Flow your imagination”. Yes, it’s pretentious, but I grew up in the era of hipster tumblr, I have a high threshold.

From the room to the ATX motherboard, there is no need for compilation to fit in a wooden hull within PA401. Although it is not too large. This is good news if you want to keep her on the desk, not under it. At 412 x 225 x 503 mm you do not have to worry about whether it will fit on the desk or carefully under it, because it should be fine in most space, but not so much if you want to push it into the most powerful elements.

At the front and the upper part of this chassis is constrained space. With two 160 mm fans and pre -installed at the front, there is little space for something larger than a 240 mm radiator. With Ryzen 7 9800x3D in my test compilation, this is not a problem, but you may have difficulty maintaining the Intel 13/14 generation system at a reasonable temperature without much cooling. Despite this, for a reasonable builder with reasonable aspirations, it is more than capable – just know that you give up some improvement potential.

If you are a fan of mechanical switches and often feeds contemporary car manufacturers to give up touch buttons, I have great news. PA410 is covered with wonderfully tactile buttons for various purposes. At the front, switch to block the power button. On the integrated fan controller there is a switch to change between maximum and automatically (curve). The side panels on both sides pop up, pressing the button on the back, and even better, the tempered glass panel button can be blocked to prevent the panel from falling out by accident when moving the housing. I like the touch buttons Very.

What’s more, after pressing the button to leisurely down each side panel, the panel will not fall to the ground, it only falls on Smidge. From there, you can raise and remove. The re -installation is as basic as spreading the bottom of the panel and pressing the top to the place until you hear a click. You can remove a tempered glass side panel with sufficient force, even without unlocking. As for this, as I know … I did not realize that there was a castle and I broke it before disconnecting. Good news, all right, the blockade is still working.

Despite the fairly basic design on the back of the housing, there are immense cable management options. At the beginning there are hooks for managing cable from the outside of the housing that can be used to hide any unruly cables. Although inside they are more basic than recently in some cases, especially the clever Havn HS 420 or generous Arctic Xtender. There is no Gulley or a channel through which you can drive cables. Instead, three extremely immense Velcro stripes to keep everything in place. Some mission on the right side of the housing due to the lack of Velcro for the CPU power cable and any rear fans, but several closed are the task.

The fan controller is conveniently placed on the top of the housing, above three stripes, which means that connecting to the highest headlines of the motherboard fan. It takes place for five PWM fans together and requires a single SATA connection. This is controlled by the above -mentioned fan speed on the front panel.

It’s a bit of squeezing to press all power cables between the power supply and HDD, but not more than many other cases, and you can remove the cage to get much more space. There are several places for 2.5-inch disks at the back of the motherboard, if you need. One thing to be careful about is the maximum GPU length of 315 mm. This is feasible for some immense contemporary cards (I tested with ASUS Prime Radeon RX 9070 XT OC Edition 16 GB GDDR6), although many RTX 5080/RTX 5090 models are too immense. I checked quite a lot, and the only obvious option is the Proart RTX 5080 with ASUS. It’s witty.

Buy if …

✅ You want to build a computer in your Victorian study: The dim finish and elegant design make it perfectly match the player on the PC, who lives in the residence of the instructions. Seriously, however, this is a handsome machine-one of my favorites this year.

Don’t buy if …

You want to build a high -class game computer: This case not only has a constrained place for a graphics card (length), but also constrained support for the radiator. For example, a 360 mm radiator cannot be fit, which is currently largely required for a truly bestial processor.

For cooling, ASUS provides three fans in the housing: 2x 160 mm inlet at the front and exhaust 1x 120 mm at the back. These are the brand TRARK, DF1603212RFMN and DF1202812RFLN and operate at 1400 rpm respectively and 1600 rpm. They reach a fairly immense volume with a full blow; I measured them at about 63 decibels on my sound meter. Although one problem that I fell into testing fans, it is how much influence the front panel/dust filter on the air flow from these two fans has. I measured the air flow by 2 m/sch with my anemometer in the housing, and the front panel was completely removed. This dropped to just 0.7 m/s from the front panel. This is one of the biggest drops I’ve ever tested.

After the test compilation in PA401 I went back and thought: “This is the best compilation I made throughout the year.” I must admit that I could disperses the dim, moody appearance of PA401 filled with gold and orange elements. In the next time with the housing, because I slightly changed the melody – while other cases better perform the basic functionality with fewer restrictions. Although PA401 is not a style above the substance. It is vivid stylish, but it is also very simple to build. There is a lack of cooling option that you will not be careful before buying, especially if you are planning a high -class compilation, which is probably not none. But if it’s not Biggie, it’s the right handsome chassis.

You can download the Proart PA401 box for USD 130/120 £. This is not a bad price for a handsome matter, especially taking into account three fans, a fan controller and a clever design. Although you can spend less on a fuller chassis in Phanteks Eclipse G400a with the cost of rooms for future improvements – it depends only on how much the PA401 devil’s view is worth.
