AstroCat Adventures Review – “A Solid Space Shooter”

Published:

  • Easy to pick up and play space shooter game
  • Great variety of levels
  • Space theme

Who wouldn’t want to be a cat (or bunny?) in space, jumping and shooting random spider robots?! AstroCat Adventures is a space shooter where you enter level after level with different threats and robots to defeat. The goal is to complete each level as quickly as possible, which requires destroying all the robots in the room and clearing it before moving on to the next one.

AstroCat Adventures includes both a free demo, which includes four different rooms, and a full version. In the latter case, you can choose your character before starting, choosing whether you are a cat or a bunny and choosing a space suit. The levels themselves are procedurally generated, so they are not the same rooms in the same order in which you play. This adds a lot of variety to this uncomplicated mechanic, as the perspective changes depending on what room you are in and what enemies and threats are actually present there.

But it’s not just about enemies and lasers in every room. There are also shields you can wear that will allow you to get hit without taking damage, more lives that you will need if you get hit, and weapon upgrades that will make you more powerful and faster at destroying enemies.

Extra points are awarded for how quickly you complete each level. You enter a sort of flow as you move around and attack different enemies, dodging their bullets and getting to them before they wake up and attack. It’s a fun little arcade adventure that’s going to have a whole story in the future, combining different aspects.

For now though, it’s just a fun little shooter that you can get through quickly and easily.
