We want to sing “I am your GPU” one more time, as PlayStation has officially revealed Astrobot The DualSense is available for pre-order starting August 9. The game will launch alongside the game on September 6, just in time for the adorable little robot’s gigantic space adventure.
This PlayStation Blog the first photos were published Astrobot DualSense for the world, and it looks pristine. It has blue accents of our favorite robot on the buttons and handles in a shiny design. Blue dotted eyes also shine on the touchpad.
Astro Bot DualSense will be available in “limited quantities”
The controller can be pre-ordered via PlayStation Direct from 7am Pacific Time in the United States, or 10am in the United Kingdom and other European regions, including France, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Austria, and Portugal. The DualSense will be “available in limited quantities” and will retail for $79.99/€79.99/£69.99. It will also be available in select stores, but the PlayStation Blog did not specify which stores the controller will be available in.
It’s quite appropriate that Astrobot is getting its own DualSense, as it will exploit the DualSense throughout the 3D platformer. The PlayStation Blog says we’ll be able to “feel the surfaces Astro runs and slides on, from grass, sand, metal to softer water textures.” This is a feature in its predecessor Astro Playroom as well, but according to the PlayStation Blog, the sequel has increased the number of textures you can feel.
Adaptive triggers and haptic feedback are also used in recent Astro abilities like the Barkster. For example, the dog-themed jetpack lets you feel its engines by rattling your finger. You’ll also exploit motion controls with the DualSpeeder, which lets you fly between planets.

Unfortunately, Astrobot won’t support PS VR2, at least not at launch. “The idea that we could add a VR mode doesn’t apply to this type of game,” Team Asobi studio head Nicolas Doucet said Digital trends“That’s applicable to some first-person games, like racing games, but not to this type of game.”
Astrobot will release on September 6, 2024 exclusively for PS5. While you wait, you can check out the adorable Nendoroid Astro Bot.
