Assassin’s Creed Shadows Developers discuss the contemporary future of the series, Basim and why there is no fresh artifact

Published:

The Assassin’s Creed Shadows programmers answered fans’ questions about the future of the contemporary franchise story, as well as various story topics left unanswered in the last hit of the series.

Shadows was designed as a kind of pliable restart of the series, without a playable current section and a robust focus on real historical elements found in the feudal version of Japan. Not much mention comes from the events of previous games – something that fresh players do not feel that they have to go to Wikipedia and catch up.

The history of the game slowly introduces the killers and the Knights Templar again and does not mention Basima-Błówna character apparent as part of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Assassin’s Creed Mirage, whose fate remains open. Meanwhile, the mysterious precursor breed Assassina, Assassin Creed, does not play a role at all – after a number of games in which hunting for one of their artifacts acted as the main MacGUFFIN.

Now during the questions and answers of the fans RedditThe team of game programmers answered the questions whether the series will provide more contemporary history in the future, whether we will see Basim again, and which of the current crossovers of the game are Canon.

“In the shade of AC we are introducing the first stone of new ways to provide a modern history from the Animus center,” wrote the Luc Plante level designing director. “This is not the end, and we listen to your opinions.”

Currently, fans can unlock fragments of text logs that tell a fresh story with various killers and template units in the near future. So, technically, not a “modern day”, this period of story seems to be many decades (and something that conveniently means current story threads, such as Basim’s character, can be moved).

But will fans receive more Basim’s history? The ending of Valhalla made the future of the character wide open, and many fans expected that he would appear again in a significant role. Mirage, who tells the story of its beginnings, meanwhile a strange post-credit scene appeared indicating more of the game.

“We have new characters submitted, which were introduced in the shade, which we did not consider to be enough headlights for Basim,” Plante continued.

Can Basim’s story be picked up in the shade? It seems unlikely. The character feels too far from the Japanese game history and it’s effortless to understand why Ubisoft didn’t have a place for him in the game.

At the same time, it is worth remembering that Ubisoft refused to comment at the beginning of this year in a report in the French newspaper, in which she stated that the company is now working on a fresh content for Mirage, after the injection of financing from the controversial investment fund of Saudi Arabia. Perhaps this, if and when it arrives, will be used to end Basim’s narrative.

“Lore AC is very complex and is constantly spending because we are creating new games,” said Plante, asked why the events in the extended universe of games and comics were not mentioned specifically in the shade. “We do not give up what we have done in the past, but we do not necessarily remember everything in every game, if it does not directly support the narrative we are building.

Ubisoft adopted a similar approach to ISU, which remained outside the screen in the game. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Valhalla bend strongly in the mythological elements of their settings. However, shadows treated (almost) everything without the need to explain the supernatural or science fiction.

“Like the fact that the main game in the shade does not have an ISU artifact, does not mean that there is no shadows in the world of shadows,” said Plante, “it was not a story device that we needed for the story we wanted to tell.”

Speaking of supernatural elements, Plante confirmed that the shadows of “Unlockbled Dead by the content of daylight was not” not a canon to the history of shadows. ” To say, the last key crossover with the fresh character of Rufino Is Canon and associated with the main topics of the game.

Then for Assassin’s Creed Shadows are great claws of the Awaji extension in the game on September 16. Along with the fresh region, the add -on will expand to the current ending of Shadows with a fresh story for Naoe and Yasuke. Maybe ISU is lurking somewhere in it?
