Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is the name of Ubisoft’s long-awaited pirate remake

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is the full name of Ubisoft’s pirated remake, which has had more leaks than a sunken ship.

The fresh game title is now available noticeable on the website of the European rating board PEGI, which is about as official as it gets. (The game is rated 18 for violence and foul language.)

Additionally, it is mentioned here that Black Flag Resynced will include the ability to make in-game purchases. It’s still unclear how Resynced will connect to the series’ existing Animus Hub, which allows you to purchase optional cosmetic content. Alternatively, this could potentially mean the possibility of purchasing DLC in the future. Is the memorable Freedom Cry expansion also waiting for a remake?

Today’s development comes just a few weeks after the game’s release date reportedly appeared online. During Ubisoft’s latest financial results, the French publisher presented a list of upcoming games that are scheduled to appear before the end of the current financial year, on March 31, 2026.

The name of one of these games was left as “unannounced”, although in a later report by Father Insider games stated that this not-so-secret project is a fresh version of Black Flag, which is scheduled to arrive the week of March 23, 2026.

Despite years of internal leaks, fan speculation, and even hints from the original game’s lead actor, Ubisoft has yet to officially confirm that a Black Flag remake exists. IGN reached out to the company again today in case they had something they wanted to tease. Or maybe we’ll find out more later this week at The Game Awards?

Previous reports have suggested that Black Flag Resynced will be a significant remake of the beloved pirate installment of the series, with visual and gameplay improvements that will bring the game quality closer to this year’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

New story content will reportedly be added to further explore the life of protagonist Edward Kenway, although contemporary gameplay sections have apparently been removed, which many fans are not elated about. It will be engaging to see how Ubisoft handles the game’s fresh ending – which previously combined story elements from historical and contemporary narratives – in lithe of this change.
