I love Mass effect. To this day, it remains one of my all-time favorite series, so it should be no surprise that I look forward to it Day N7 (November 7) every year. I recently replayed the trilogy in Mass Effect Legendary Edition and even went to Andromeda. So I have some thoughts on things I’d like to see BioWare or EA announce on Friday during N7 Day.
First of all, I want some news about the elusive Mass Effect 5. Apart from The Witcher 4, the upcoming RPG is my most anticipated game, and yet we don’t know much about it, except for our favorite Asari, Liara T’Soni, who makes her welcome return. I’m nervous for ME5, knowing that it will very likely make or break BioWare as we know it today.
EA declared Dragon Age: The Veilguard a failure, which puts a lot of pressure on the BioWare team to star in Mass Effect 5. The developer is one of my favorite studios, and I hate to see it struggle almost as much as I loathe Electronic Arts’ disdain for fantasy games (you may hate DA for whatever reason, but remasters of the first three games would print money, EA, trust me). However, a look at the novel game may alleviate some of my concerns. That and I think a fresh look at the game is long overdue.
In addition to novel information about Mass Effect 5, I would like to see an announcement stating that Mass Effect Legendary Edition will be coming to Nintendo Switch 2, possibly with ports to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The remastered trilogy was released in 2021 on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, bypassing Nintendo Switch. Well, as we know, the novel hardware is more than capable of running very demanding games (just check out my Cyberpunk 2077 review to see an example), so it only seems right that MELE should come to the Switch 2.
The Mass Effect trilogy remains one of the most beloved game series in history, and Mass Effect 2 is actually one of my favorite titles, period. I’d love to see a novel wave of gamers experience this greatness and also be able to finally play this game on the go without having to own an exorbitant Valve handheld or one of the best Steam Deck alternatives.
Beyond the trilogy, an Amazon TV series update would be great – given how fantastic the Fallout series is, I’m really looking forward to seeing what they do with Mass Effect. Since BioWare’s RPG series is one of my favorites, I’m especially curious about what decisions go into making this choice. One of the things people love most about Mass Effect is the choices you make and the lasting impact they can have. The consequences of what you choose to do in the first game may not be immediately apparent, but you will feel them by the end of Mass Effect 3.
However, I could be getting ahead of myself here, as we don’t actually have confirmation that Amazon is adapting the story from the games; can follow completely different characters, which is perhaps a safer option since you won’t disappoint your legion of fans simply because you don’t defer to their decisions during gameplay. I would be joyful to see some novel faces, but I would be even more joyful to receive information about the program that will take place on November 7.

Finally, and this may strike some people’s attention, I want a port or remaster of Mass Effect Andromeda for the Nintendo Switch 2. It’s definitely unlikely, but I don’t hate MEA. I actually quite like it, and while I agree that it pales in comparison to the trilogy, it’s a real shame that it never got a sequel because it was all building up to something great. On my recent revisit to Heleus, I found I enjoyed the galaxy and story more than I remembered, and I’m one of the few who was more forgiving of the game in 2017.
We know that Mass Effect 5 includes Andromeda to some extent, so giving more players a chance to experience Ryder’s story before its final release seems like a good idea to me. But what do I know? I’m just a die-hard fan who wants more from one of her favorite universes.
While I’ve long since given up hope on a Switch port of Dragon Age, I think Switch ports of Mass Effect are possible. But of all the things I hope to see on Friday, more news about the TV show is more likely to happen. What do you think? Should one of the best RPG series of all time come to Nintendo Switch 2? Let me know on Discussion on pocket tactics; we may inevitably be disappointed with the common N7 Day.
