Arrowhead has finally released that large Helldivers 2 rebalance patch that’s been in the works for over a month, and that’s a good thing: people love how much more powerful the weapons and strategies are across the board, and most importantly, they like having a lot more options for taking down the Bile Titans, Chargers, and Hulks. The biggest threats Terminid and Automaton are now less resistant to weapons that many players have always considered should they deal more damage, like an autocannon or thermite grenade, and are less of a nuisance as a result.
I am also impressed with this update, but I also support the users Bunny as soon as possiblewho told Arrowhead innovative director Johan Pilestedt on Twitter: “Everything is great, but now we need a new, harder difficulty.” I played around with the up-to-date patch for a few hours today and noticed that even on higher difficulties, which I previously avoided because they were too strenuous, the bugs had lost much of their bite.
Since most support weapons and strategies can now penetrate the Charger and Bile Titan’s armor, my teams kill them before they can attack. I don’t want to go back to the days of an autocannon round bouncing right off the Bile Titan’s armor, but maybe Super Earth is a little too well prepared to distribute freedom.
It seems Pilestedt is on the same page, at least when it comes to difficulty levels, responding to the user with “I agree!” He didn’t go into further detail, but there’s precedent for Arrowhead turning up the heat over time. We just got a higher difficulty in the August Escalation of Freedom update: Level 10 “Super Helldive.” We can assume the next one will be Level 11 and will be called something like “Super Duper Helldive,” as some fans in the thread suggested.
However, more time spent with the update could have affected that decision. It’s only been a few hours since the major changes to Helldivers 2 — maybe the difficulty is generally okay, and I just need to get used to levels 9 and 10, whereas I previously comfortably stuck to levels 7 and 6.
