Arc System Works is working on a 3D revival of Double Dragon

Published:

Japanese game studio Arc System Works is working on a recent installment in the Double Dragon series. At least that’s what Famitsu magazine claims (via Ryokutya2089), stating that the game will be a “3D rebirth of the series.”

Apparently this recent 3D Double Dragon title will recreate the arcade action of the classic games, with modernized controls and difficulty settings. Jimmy Lee, Billy Lee, Roper, Abobo and other characters will be included, presented in a recent 3D style.

Arc System Works is a team known for its stylish fighting games like Dragon Ball FighterZ and Guilty Gear Strive. It recently acquired the rights to Double Dragon, with its latest main installment being the mediocre Double Dragon 4. While little is known about the details of the upcoming game at the moment, it sounds like a bit of a reinvention, which could be just what’s needed.

Famitsu says the game will release for PS5 and PS4 in 2025, so we’ll have to wait and see how that pans out. Are you interested in the recent Double Dragon? Let us know in the comments section below.
