- Anti-Hack is a up-to-date return to the ancient cyberpunk genre
- No weapons or cybernetic limbs, just good old-fashioned hacking action.
- Solve computer-inspired logic puzzles in the depths of a broken system.
When it comes to cyberpunk, perhaps we’ve all been fooled by the gun-toting action that’s so prevalent in up-to-date games and movies. Because there was a time when the genre was a bit more subdued and focused primarily on one thing, hacking. Yes, no guns, no cybernetics, just surprisingly lean and stylish basement dwellers tearing down elaborate conspiracies with just a keyboard. That’s a bygone era that today’s Anti-Hack is a throwback to.
In this 3D puzzler, you’ll explore a broken computer system, trying to get from the entrance to the heart of the network. It’s all very retro and heavily inspired by ancient comics, video games and – as the creators say – the 1995 film Hackers.
Naturally, this means that all the puzzles you come across will be based on computer logic in some way. So you better think twice, because this is going to be a bit more complicated than games like match-three or Suika.
Hack the planet!
We may or may not have a little more in store for Anti-Hack, but it’s a game worth exploring in its own right. Sure, it’s not the first game to apply real computer logic to puzzles, but in terms of graphics, it’s a class above some of the other games we’ve seen. Fans of System Shock may even find that it outdoes the infamous cyberspace sequences in that famed cyberpunk simulator.
