Welcome back to Tuesday, when you can only save on games that matter. I’ve locked down a pile of elderly Nintendo Store gold that’s available at historic low prices. I’m also tracking the best pre-orders you can place on the biggest games on the way. Finally, I’m passing on LEGO deals because there are still some great deals on bricks after Prime Day.
In retro news: I’m celebrating my 28th birthday Grand Prix 2one of the most definitive PC racing games of its time. Coded by simulation genius Geoff Crammond, GP2 was a comprehensive recreation of the 1994 Formula 1 season, with all 16 tracks, 14 teams and 28 drivers. Not only do I fondly remember the touch controls in the “incredibly realistic” Adelaide Grand Prix during my formative years, but I also cherish the memories of interviews Ben “Stig” Collins and having a geek out session over our shared love of GP2. During his years in Formula 3, it seems he and his mates racked up a lot of laps in their downtime.
