A complete list of what you need to know.
Destiny 2The Heliostat mission brings the Guardian to the ancient Warsat facility to thwart the Conductor’s plan. As usual, guards can find several secrets and collectibles hidden around the mission. Catching them allows you to upgrade the Wolfsbane, the first battle ax in the game (yes, this weapon is more fun to apply).
The secrets of the Heliostat include ways to enhance Wolfsbane’s internal Rebirth Directive and claim its four catalysts, which are needed to unleash the blade’s full potential. Since this is a craftable weapon (now an endangered species), you can also customize some of the parts to suit the axe’s strengths.
We’ve written about how to get Wolfsbane Catalysts and Internal Upgrades in dedicated articles, so here’s a quick, summarized description of how to get all the secrets in Heliostat, as well as the recommended way to do it in one go.
All Wolfsbane catalytic converter locations

Wolfsbane catalytic converters apply a type of lock and key system in which data pads serve as keys to certain computer terminals in the Heliostat. To unlock each catalyst, find the matching data panel and interact with the appropriate terminal. We strongly recommend that you perform these steps in the correct order, risking subsequent catalytic converter failure.
Catalyst effect | Data pad location | Terminal location |
---|---|---|
Orbs of Attrition |
At the beginning of the mission, after you summon the Shield Psion for the first time. The data pad is located near the second nuclear core. | Next to the place where you can summon the Psion for the second time. |
Merciless Strikes | Right after descending into the electrified elevator shaft. The data pad and terminal are hidden in secret rooms, which you can get to by controlling the elevator with the hacking Psion. Press the left button to make the elevator go down, the right button to find the data panel, and the one in the middle to reach the terminal. | In a hidden room after leaving the elevator, which can be accessed by hacking the middle symbol on the console. |
Burning ambition | In the escape room before the longer platforming section, interact with the three computers to restart the systems. The computers are arranged in a Y shape, with a “leg” coming out from behind the lamppost. After doing this, solve the security puzzle again to unlock the room with the terminal. The data pad is located on the walkway at the top. | In the secret area under the main room of the Warsat frosty storage facility, after solving the security puzzle again. |
Subroutine: ~Recursion | In one of the corridors where you can overcome the gravity lift during the platforming part. The data pad is located in a crack in the floor near the busy reactor. Enter it by taking the left path from the main room. | At the back of the second corridor with the gravity lift control switch, just past the player’s entry point. |
All Wolfsbane internal improvements

To improve Wolfsbane’s internal features, you must apply your ax to destroy the nine Vex crystals located at key points of the Heliostat. They are usually hidden in unlit corners, which can be a gift. Here’s a miniature list of where you can find each shape.
Internal shape | Location | Internal update |
---|---|---|
Diamond | In the first room full of water, right after destroying the four security nodes. Face the Quicksilver Psion and look behind you and to the left. | Rebirth Directive II |
Diamond | Still in the first part of the platformer, on the last ledge in the next room filled with water. Find the door above you with the lamp, then look for the unlit part on the left. Alternatively, jump to the ledge and look to the right. | Rebirth Directive II |
Diamond | In a darker room, on a platform covered by a pipe. It is located to the left of where you enter, although it is hard to see due to the angle. If you’ve encountered a hacking Psion, you’ve gone too far. | Rebirth Directive II |
Triangle | In the longer part of the parkour, just after the elevator on the right. Find the ledge where the two goblins are shooting at you, then look across from them. | Rebirth Directive III |
Triangle | Still in the platform section, shortly after catching the second elevator at the top of the reactor. | Rebirth Directive III |
Triangle | You’re also sitting on a reactor as you approach the other end of the platform section. Find it before you make a long jump to the platform below and to the right of your path. | Rebirth Directive III |
Square | At the end of the boss room, in the left-hand corner. | Rebirth Directive IV |
Square | In the boss arena, in the first room with the hacker Psion. | Rebirth Directive IV |
Square | Also in the boss section, on the railing on the left, helping Quicksilver Psion break through the second blockade. | Rebirth Directive IV |
Recommended order for the secrets of the Heliostat

Based on our experience, here is the easiest order to download all the catalytic converters and internals in one pass. Try to catch the catalysts one by one, as failure to do so may result in errors.
- As soon as the mission starts, pick it up first data pad.
- Destroy the four security nodes and search first internal update in the labyrinthine part of the mission, with the murderous walls.
- Go past the elevator and grab the second data pad.
- During the last area you traverse, look out for second internal update, but also third and fourth catalysts.
- Reach the boss room and destroy the symbols final internal update.
Even if you know where to look, getting all the secrets in the Heliostat requires at least two total runs, as you need the Wolf’s Bane before you can interact with the collectibles.
