ALGS finally reaches Asia

Apex Legends is a world-renowned franchise and it’s incredibly rewarding to be able to come to the hometowns of our players and fans around the world. The ALGS has a huge community in Japan and we’ve seen all the comments asking us to bring the show to the country, so we couldn’t be more excited to be celebrating the main event on our competition calendar at the iconic Daiwa House Premier Dome.

It is true that Apex Legends has a huge community in Japan. Bringing the event to Asia feels right for the competition, and Sapporo is a great city to do it in. Fans will be able to enjoy more online competition as teams fight for their spot at Worlds before they travel to soak up what is always the most stimulating event of the year for the ALGS.

The news comes after the ALGS was the most well-attended event in Europe. The SAP Arena in Mannheim, Germany was packed to the rafters and the crowd was absolutely wild. I’ve been to a few ALGS events and this was by far the most intense. It’s the closest thing to the noise and enthusiasm that English fans bring to the stadiums every week, but without the fighting.

Of course, Japan is a long way off for some ALGS fans, and we won’t know which teams will be participating until much closer to the event. That makes booking flights and accommodations in advance either risky or irrelevant if you only want to go and watch one particular team. However, to avoid the pain of your team not qualifying, you can extend your stay and enjoy Sapporo Snow Festivalwhich takes place the week after the ALGS Championship.

The Premier Dome has a maximum capacity of around 53,000 people. Depending on how many people buy tickets and plan to attend, the ALGS may need to remodel its player stands so fans can watch the game from both sides. Currently, events focus on showcasing games and players on one side of the seating, as there weren’t enough fans to require that. The Year 4 Championships could change that, however.
