God of War: Ragnarok art director God of War: Ragnarok art director announced he is joining Naughty Dog, from Sony to Netflix and back to Sony.
Last May, Rafael Grassetti announced that after 10 years with the studio, he would be leaving Santa Monica Studio and would be producing God of War and its sequel Ragnarok as lead artist and art director, respectively, not to mention being studio director artistic from 2022 until his departure. The developer moved to Netflix as part of Team Blue, a triple-A studio that includes other large names like former Overwatch executive producer Chacko Sonny and former Halo imaginative director Joseph Staten, but that studio closed in October. Today, Grassetti announced a “new chapter” on his Twitter account, namely a return to Sony, only this time as part of Naughty Dog.

“I’m so excited to join the amazing team and project at Naughty Dog and to return to Playstation!” Grassetti wrote in a post about Instagram. “I’m joining Neil Druckmann and his team as Artistic Director to assist create the next large thing! A huge thank you to everyone who was involved in all this, as well as all my friends from the sister studios. I’m excited and can’t wait to share more with us! Whatever that “more” means remains largely a mystery at this point, as it’s not entirely clear what Naughty Dog has been working on since the release of The Last of Us Part 2 (no, I’m not counting the remake of the first game or the second game remaster), and cancellation of the Last of Us multiplayer spin-off.

The second season of The Last of Us TV adaptation will be released next year, so Naughty Dog fans will at least be kept busy, but other than that we’ll just have to wait and see.
