Activision has revealed significant changes to the Call of Duty Battle Pass for Black Ops 7 Season 1 that should significantly accelerate progress.
The Battle Pass has been the subject of much debate in recent years, with Call of Duty players often bemoaning how long it takes to unlock all the content – even if you pay for the premium version and the more high-priced BlackCell version on top of that.
IN novel blog postActivision said it has “learned lessons” from completing the Black Ops 6 Battle Pass and has made adjustments to provide a “more rewarding journey.” As a result, the Battle Pass for every season in Black Ops 7 should be “more rewarding for the time you spend in-game, regardless of where you play in all parts of the game.”
How does it work? Earlier pages of the Black Ops 7 Battle Pass can now be completed faster, with fewer levels needed to unlock the High Value Objective (HVT) content at the end of the page, while later pages of the Battle Pass will contain more rewards. This means players will get more HVT content faster across all 100 levels, Activision says.
For the first time, Activision is adding the ability to earn Battle Pass tokens by completing Daily Challenges, which are now available not only in Multiplayer, Zombies and Call of Duty: Warzone, but also in the Co-op Campaign and Endgame. On certain days of the season, completing an additional daily challenge will earn you a Battle Pass token that can be immediately used to unlock the level.
Call of Duty players who regularly play through the Battle Pass will welcome these changes, especially the addition of the ability to earn tokens through challenges. This should speed things up by default, but it remains to be seen what overall progress will look like as the later pages of the Battle Pass contain more content to work through.
The Season 1 Battle Pass includes up to 1,100 COD Points, 11 Operator Skins, 26 Blueprints and Weapons, and a total of 119 rewards, 23 of which are free to earn, including two novel Primary Weapons. You can purchase the Battle Pass for 1,100 COD Points or get the Battle Pass Bundle for 2,400 COD Points, which also gives you 20 tokens to redeem.
Earlier this week, novel data showed that Black Ops 7 sales were lagging behind Battlefield 6 and even Black Ops 6. Activision has not yet announced sales figures for the game or commented on its commercial performance. Microsoft has not yet said whether Black Ops 7 has increased Game Pass subscriptions in any way.
Activision is also in a keen conflict with a member of the US Congress who criticized the company’s exploit of generative artificial intelligence in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7demanding stricter regulations to “prevent companies from using artificial intelligence to eliminate jobs.”
