A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead – New gameplay faithfully recreates the tension seen in the films

IGN can reveal novel gameplay footage from the upcoming horror game A Quite Place: The Road Ahead from Stormind Games and Saber Interactive.

In the novel footage, which you can watch below, we get to see about 10 minutes of novel gameplay footage. As we’ve seen in the previous two trailers, and as those familiar with the horror series will see, this builds on the fact that A Quite Place: The Road Ahead places an emphasis on moving in silence to avoid being killed by hostile alien creatures. Even the smallest sounds, like a rat running around and kicking an empty can, will change nearby enemies.

Based on the gameplay footage, this is an early part of the game. The beginning of the footage reveals that the world has been still for 119 days. Towards the end of the footage, we can see an alien creature appear near the character, and the HUD shows when an enemy is too close to the player.

Interestingly, the HUD in A Quiet Place: Day One is relatively minimalist, similar to that of horror games like Visage. Images appear as the character switches between holding a flashlight and a sound-detecting device. In addition to maintaining a low profile while traversing the world, we learn that the playable character is asthmatic, requiring players to ensure that the character provides every opportunity for breathing difficulties via their lung status bar.

The video game A Quite Place was announced in 2021 by the project’s original creators, a joint effort between iLLOGIKA and EP1T0ME. The game was set to release in 2022, but news about it was meager following its initial announcement. That changed three years later when publisher Saber Interactive announced the game’s official title, revealing that Stormind Games had been given development duties with a targeted release window of 2024.
