Report from Deadline is a source of information about Simon Kinberg regarding Star Wars, and the publication states that it is a three-film deal led by a screenwriter who has some Star Wars roots, having co-created Star Wars Rebels with the aforementioned Filoni and Carrie Beck.
Deadline says it has heard that the fresh trilogy may include “episodes 10-12 of the Skywalker saga that began with George Lucas’ first film in 1977,” making it a sequel to the last trilogy of fresh films that turned out to be not very polarizing at all in terms of reception.
Meanwhile, Hollywood reporter claims that the trilogy is “not intended to be a continuation of the Skywalker saga” and will feature several fresh characters and a fresh story.
At this stage, all we know about Kinberg’s credits include X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse. He also wrote XXX: State of the Union starring Ice Cube instead of Vin Diesel because 2005 was a weird time and some things from behind the scenes involving scripts took place.
