A brand fresh Rachet & Clank game has just been announced, but sorry, it’s not a fresh PS5 adventure. It’s called Rachet & Clank: Ranger Rumble and it’s coming to mobile devices soon.
Ranger Rumble is described as a “fast-paced multiplayer arena platform shooter” and was developed by French mobile studio Oh BiBi. Based on the fresh trailer that was shown today, you can play as various Rachet & Clank characters, including Ratchet, in a number of different game modes, including a established arena shooter mode called Total Rumble, a soccer-like Blast Ball, and something called Bolt Rush, which involves collecting bolts.
The game takes place in a simulation prepared by Captain Qwark and apparently involves heroes from “all over the galaxy and time” competing against each other in teams. You can join random solo groups or collaborate online with friends. There aren’t many details yet on what this game will involve.
This news may be a bit disappointing for Ratchet & Clank fans hoping for something a bit bigger and bolder in the series after Rift Apart, which released in 2021 and which we gave a 9/10 for being “a fantastic showcase of the console’s power, a PS5 exclusive, and a great adventure in its own right.” Since then, the series has been tranquil and the moment is approaching when we can expect the next major premiere to be announced, but it looks like fans will have to wait a little longer.
In the meantime, we have Ranger Rumble coming out… someday. Pre-registration is now open on the website official website.
